OK, fine, make me read another review and mentally push the guy out to sea on a crude raft made of Seefeel CD longboxes: "It?s like the diametric midpoint of Rahzel, Gwen Stefani, Mark Mothersbaugh and Yoko Ono celebrating Earth Day together."

Trust me, I'm not into groupthink...I know what tree you're barking up...but I'm not in it.  I was talking more about his love of Uffie than J. Casablancas.  It's fine to like things that most in the message board community would think are not worth listening to, it just seems like some of it is tongue in cheek.

You should spend more time mailing my copy of Da Capo than wasting words sticking up for another grown man who doesn't need the co-sign.

Dude.  Come on.

Terrific list!
How's that Stonewall LP? I see it mentioned quite a lot but to this day, I've never found a copy. Was this record ever reissued or not?

There's a Scorpio reish. good luck finding an orig. A Tax Scam classic.......TOP WANT.

Highly rated in the Acid Archive.

Great record, there's the Scorpio version and a Euro version on one of those recognizable "reissue" labels.

Bassholes - "I Feel Like Sleeping" - Got this in the mail today from good ol' CDR after I had given up hope!  So good, title track is KILLER ---makes me wish they could have played in Cbus when I saw the Gibson Brothers/Oblivians...

Throbbing Gristle - "20 Jazz Funk Greats" - On the Ipod, hate walking around school, dislike this "university organism" I'm apart of, so starring at chicks wearing a tiny sweater, no pants, and fucking high healed boots in 20 degree weather and thick ice, "persuasion" is the best fit.

This Heat - "Deciet" - Listened to this today while walking on the Ipod too.  It's alright, reminds me sort of Pere Ubu's "The Modern Dance" or something.  I enjoyed some tracks, while others I couldn't stand.

Keep on listening to This Heat, young Jedi.

It's the only album I've heard, do you have any other album recommendations?

They only have one other proper LP (s/t debut), but that's even more experimental and less song-oriented.
The Peel Sessions are highly recommended. As is the "Health & Effeciency" 12" single.
But 'Deceit' is their masterpiece.
Just keep listening; they ain't easy, but the rewards are plenty...

Today

Cheveu - 1000 LP
Listened to this a few times over the last couple days. Some songs like "No Birds" are immediate (and NB might be one of their best songs yet), a lot of this isn't, but give it a chance. This record is definitely a grower. By today I was thoroughly digging it.

UFO- Obsession LP
My last favorite record before having my life changed by Never Mind the Bollocks. There are some great songs here. It is really strange finding myself singing along, even though it has been decades since I last heard this.

Tasavallan Presidentti - Milky Way Moses LP
Picked this up because it was on Janus, not knowing it was Finnish prog. Really odd stuff. Runs from jazzy funk to krauty to weird & freaky, often in the same song. Some of this is wretched, but some is pretty great.

Ella James - Tell Mama LP
Original pressing and, fuck, this really jumps out of the grooves. So loud and so good.

Blue Oyster Cult - Cultosaurus Erectus LP
The best of the later LPs, easy. The whole first side is fantastic.

Hank IV - III LP
Another corker. No frill punk sounds.

The Veils, Nux Vomica DL
DL'd after reading a review of the dude's most recent record.  Neatly encapsulates everything that I'm NOT interested in when it comes to contemporary songwriting.  Pretty much the exact opposite of everything I like.  Not that it's bad, exactly: just a middle-of-the-road, very slickly produced, unrocking "rock" record by a dude with a "worldview" he wants to "share" with "you."  No grit whatsoever, manifestly uninterested in history except as wallpaper, as backdrop for "sophisticated" "musings" on asdflkajlsdfasfjj;

I still love their first single "Lavinia". Very dramatic but also very beautiful. Their records never did it for me though.

Terrific list!

Thanks for the info! I just saw that Permanent Records also has the reissue for sale. Will be on the lookout for a distro that carries it in Euroland.

Pulled the Crude COTAR LP out yeterday & it still works.  The long drone piece I described sounds more like a guitar-bass-synth trio, starting off kinda riffy and gradually dissolving.  Mr. Bull, this is the side with the fake Vertigo center label, also home to "The Odd Joint".

^^^Yeah, the This Heat discography is pretty small but it's all good.  Deceit is the better of the two LPs.  There's also a live boot called Cold Storage that's not too tough to find (it's probably on Soulseek) and really impressive.

I was pretty blown away by the two or three live clips available on YouTube.  It's really cool to watch them sing those fucked-up dual vocal parts and play at the same time.  Charles Hayward: drummer's drummer.

I have a live bootleg LP recorded in....Germany? (not gonna dig it out right now) So good. "Makeshift Swahili" is sick as death.
I also have a bootleg CD I call "shady European boot" (maybe it's Cold Storage?) that I was gonna post on my blog, or at least part of it. Haven't listened in forever, gonna comb thru it.
This Heat: a band's band.

One time a very good drummer friend heard me playing drums and when I came upstairs he said I sounded like Charles Hayward. He was probably just trying to make sure I got him stoned, but it was still a very nice compliment. In a weird way, I can see the way I play certain beats being like a super-tarded version of Mr. Hayward.

Haley, once you've eaten all the This Heat you can eat, then you can move onto Camberwell Now. Solid shit.

Right now I'm listening to a bunch of stuff I'm gonna sell so I can make rent. Currently: Saccharine Trust 'We Became Snakes'
