oh yea and Coremega. he is an overlooked gem. the album The Realness is amazing. He was in the Firm with Nas in the early/mid 90s but got kicked out or something. but he is sick.

Cosigned on Cormega, he rules. The album The Testament, which was supposed to be his 1st album in 96 or so but didn't come out till a few years ago, is awesome too. I just found a copy of the Realness yesterday, pretty psyched.

Damn, I not sure how Organized Konfusion's "Releasing Hypnotical Gases" can sound "dated" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySmdcta_uSg
Shit, still sounds futuristic to me.

Off the top of the my dome, my head, my skull, my cranium, two of the best produced albums in my opinion with good rapping of the past few years were Cunninglynguists (ridiculous name kept me away from them) - "A Piece of Strange" and Blue Sky Black Death & Hell Razah - "Razah's Ladder."

Other stuff in the past 1-2 years i've enjoyed was Blu & Exile - "Below the Heavens," Joell Ortiz - "Bodega Chronicles" and recently, Rek - "Grey Hairs."  & my favorite rap album of 08 was Akrobatik- "Absolute Value."

I didn't like any of this stuff when it came out and I was in high school, but in retrospect all that early 90's Black Sheep, De La Soul, Pharcyde stuff is really good.

Many great singles from the late 90's too
Jay-Z "Can I Get A..."
Mystikal "Shake Ya Ass"
Ol Dirty Bastard "Baby I Got Your Money"
That Big Pun song about not being a player but "crushing" a lot

and I really love Trina "Da Baddest Bitch."  It is true nobody can do me better.

It's great when girls try to be as misogynist as guys cuz it just doesn't come off right.  In her song "Nig**z Ain't Shit" she keeps talking about making men lick her pussy before she kicks them out of the house and at one point the entire backing track drops and it's just her triple-tracked voice shouting

TASTE THE CLIT!!!

She is, truly, Da Baddest B***h

The only thing I have to add to this thread is this photo of NWA:

Neil Young's coke booger from the Last Waltz. I bought it at an auction of rock memorabilia

If they wore pants that tight today, they would have been laughed out of the hip hop scene.

How times have changed.

Aren't slim cut jeans back in style right now in hip hop circles via Kanye West?

Yeh to some hipster types...but most people think Kanye is a fruit anyway.  I know Jim Jones rocks the slim cut but all's I know is when I do, I get comments so it's still a fringe thing.
