Alright, what's going on in London on New Years Eve? Anything worth going out of the house for? At the moment I'm torn between the Dirty Water club and that DJ night thing at Ryans.

WETDOG
"Following the release of their critically acclaimed second album,  Frauhaus! and after touring with the Slits, WETDOG will bring us their brand of garage noise both surfy and no wave-ish, with bored moans for lyrics culminating "whoa-oh/eeeeiiiiiooo" chorus that would make spiritual forebears Liliput squeak in proud delight."

THE HUMAN RACE
"fine song-writing, raucous punk with hints of american rock, psychedelia and dark repetitive blues.  likened to brian johnstown massacre, the feelies, the replacements"

BLACK MAMBA BEAT
Black Mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis), is an elapid snake and is one of Africa's most dangerous and feared snakes.  It has been known to arrive at parties and inject patrons with it's venomous beer bite which causes people to headbang or shake a tail feather, the "fuck it, let's have fun" ingredient in the venom eradicates all pretense and pose.  Ingredients of said venom include obsession with Minutemen econo ethics, Beat Happenin' beats, CCR and Mat's flannel, zol, quarts and skaatsplank!  We walk like the LION!! We got the Beat!

There's a punk-oriented record fair today at the Lexington on Pentonville Road if anyone's in London.  No idea if it'll be any good but I'm heading over there now.

are there any regular record fairs in london? im not very observant but thought i would have heard of one or two by now... i went to one in stoke newington once but it was all reggae . one in brighton is quite good but i don't want to  run the risk of jamespheromoan or andyisdisgusting catching me with a brand new heavies cd

There's one in the Electric Ballroom in Camden every second Saturday, or at least there used to be.  Lots of punk and new wave records but no bargains.  There's also one in Greenwitch but its not very good.  I'm sure there must be big annual record fairs somewhere, but I have no idea when and where.  The back of Record Collector would be a good place to check.

Just missed the last big fair on Saturday the 23rd. Next one is April.

There's also one at Spitalfields Market every second Friday of the month but it's not that great.

Yeah it wasn't amazing but I left happy with eight volumes of powerpearls that'd I'd been waiting six years to find.  That one guy in the west corner of the room had some incredible stuff but all really over-priced.
