Don't worry about it. People can complain all they want about lack of decent discussion, but there is nobody stopping anyone from discussing music seriously here. I am personally not too bothered by some of the obnoxious posts that are originating from the Miami/Chicago axis. People used to complain during the golden age about Erick and I turning every discussion into bragging about drugs. Officer Brad has always derailed threads into LSOK picture fests.

Personally, my big pet peeve is the scores of new users who come here to simply find out about the latest Blank Dogs/Captured Tracks/Sacred Bones/Woodsist releases or give props to Wavves/Jay Reatard/Black Lips/whoever is getting press at the moment. This isn't a dig on those labels or bands either.

I find the Miami boys to be funny a lot of the times, I think they are keeping within' the spirit of Termbo, but some of the new, low post count users are just boring. They're not contributing anything, not even dissonance.

One thing I always liked about this board was the balance between record nerdism and half-ass shit-assism. The obnoxious Miami dudes are pretty involved. They're booking good shows in Miami (Tommy Jay), putting together a rad festival and making good music. I've hung out with them in real life, and they geek out of over obscuro NZ shit, Columbus history-rock and other shit. I don't take shit so seriously that I am gonna get bent outta shape outta them joking around with the word "bro."

I don't see them forcing anyone to stop talking seriously about music either. Whenever I talk about music seriously, nobody usually responds, probably because they're just not as interested or as knowledgeable about Soviet underground rock or 10-96 as I am. Probably don't have a lot to add to the subject.

I guess I just feel like instead of complaining about how much the board sucks, that it would be more productive to just talk about what interests you. I made some pretty serious observations about the new Tyvek record and people's responses to it and nobody really had anything to say about it, including you.

I also don't know of much off the top of my head that currently warrants serious in depth discussion. Shit talking music has always been a huge part of this board though.
