I think I can count on one hand how many records I've reunited with sleeves.

Yeah, that doesn't happen too often. You'll end up just buying a "complete" one eventually and selling the spare sleeveless one to offset the cost.

Only other big reunion I've done is a Misfits "Bullet" 1st press.  I got a beautiful sleeveless copy from the Max's booker, then found a really beat-up sleeve on the internet from the guy who runs Glenn Danzig's official website.  The sleeve is signed by Danzig, and I'm one of those people who usually likes autographed sleeves, but seeing how Danzig has done so many of them and he signs so damn big, I think it's a minus on Misfits stuff.  I later found an insert, but it would have cost me too much, so I didn't bother.

Bought it. Thanks for the info Ryan. It tipped the camel's back for my "trying to save money" ass. And thanks for pointing it out Justin!

Good call.  I paid ten bucks more for a copy over Christmas and I thought THAT was a score-and-a-half.  That's a straight up bargain!

I finally got around to playing Th'Cigaretz.  I'm having a hard time describing it.  I guess the genre is punk bar band.  It's a live record, with lots of the band cursing on stage at the audience and so forth.  It verges on hard rock in a lot of places, with the guitar solos especially.  There are some bluesy bits and harmonica in places.  As you can tell from the song titles, there's something of the Gizmos in the lyrics.  It's the sort of record that seems cool when you listen to it, but an hour later you can't recall one song.  I think I stand by what I said elsewhere, that it's a really interesting historical document (especially due to the North Carolina locale -- it wouldn't be quite the same if the band was from NYC or LA) but ultimately it's not something you're going to play more than once every 5 years.  Hold out for a $10 one I guess.

Th'Cigaretz - Crawl Rite Outta My Skin LP - $30

Late 70s North Carolina punk oddity with great silk-screened cover -- every one I've seen is a little different, mostly the color choices.  Another one you might be able to find cheaper if you're patient, but I've also seen it sell for more than this.

This one's not eBay:

SOLD! Volume 2 book - $75
http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/ListingDetails?bi=1032592266
Not cheap, but a reasonable price, especially given all the idiots on abebooks who list them for hundreds of dollars (yes Scott, I know you once got stupid money for one on eBay, but it's the exception, not the rule.)  The title may not be clear, but the date and ISBN definitely identify this as the much larger and more desirable 2nd edition.

[edited 1/16 to mark as sold]

Since that ebay score, I've sold three on abe for $200+. All to Europeans. All within a day or three of listing. As you know with records there is a gap in price between auction sites and static sites like gemm. Same goes with books. People will pay more if they know the seller or that the seller is a "legit" bookseller (by legit I mean brick & mortar, been in business for years, is a professional not a hobbyist). As you and I know, the "legit" can often be overrated.

Great Plains - Live at the Electric Banana cassette - $5
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150208826743
With reasonable shipping from Europe, it's only $9 total to the US.  You will not find this original cassette elsewhere.  But if you prefer a digital download or custom burned CD, it's still available from Paul Nini's Lower Records:

http://www.old3c.com/releases.html

I'd also recommend any Great Plains, TJSA or Ron House stuff on that page.  It's nice to see that Paul's (sort of) keeping these releases in print.  FYI on the Ron House "New Wave as the Next Guy" CD: the songs are awesome, but Jerry Wick of Gaunt did something weird with the tapes when he remastered them for reissue and it's WAY too trebly.  This is the only CD I own where I have to turn down the treble to listen to it.  The original "Blind Boy In The Backseat" cassette on Old Age / No Age sounds significantly better.  I'd love to see this stuff get a proper vinyl reissue (paging Columbus Discount Records!)

Shit, I missed it. I've been after the original cassette for quite awhile now. Please post/email if you come across another one. I haven't been looking for that recently. It's somewhat far down on necessary items, but I'd have paid more than that for it.

My guess is that the guy will list another copy of that cassette.  I bought one from him maybe a month ago, so this is at least his second.

That reminds me--Justin, should this tape just be a b&w photocopied j-card and dubbed tape with printed labels?  I was worried at first when I saw a second copy go up that maybe he was selling a copy, but the listing specifically states original.

Yes, I bought mine from the label and it's like that.  Lower Records was pretty much always an on-demand label.  He'd dub a tape whenever one was ordered.

Today is a 20 cent listing day on eBay so there's an influx of buy-it-now stuff.  My pal grubadub here has some good deals on mostly off-condition stuff, some missing sleeves:

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZgrubadub

I think that Wreck'n Crew for $10 is good if you're looking for a placeholder copy.  I also like the Naked Skinnies (although it's neither punk nor powerpop), especially at $25 for an EX/EX copy. (SOLD and SOLD!)
