Potluck Thread
« on: June 29, 2009, 02:23:21 PM »
So Tina and I have been doing potlucks every week, either at my house or at Silent Barn.  It's been way fun, and I want a thread about it.

Potlucks are kind of the best thing ever because you spend less than ten bucks on food and/or booze and end up super full and drunk on all kinds of stuff.

The next one is on Weds at my house, anyone who wants to share in the good vibes is welcome to come... provided you bring booze or food.

Anyone else do potluckz?

I honestly hate potlucks. I would be interested in having a potluck with the following people;

Mitch Cardwell
Scott Soriano
Andy Hugh Jass
Steve Anderson
HONE
Richie
Doug Mosurock

mainly just because I know I will eat so much pork and beef, and no veggie bullshit or hummus dip.

It also wouldn't matter that no girls are there because no girls are attracted to men eating until they vomit.

I honestly hate potlucks.

I do too, but mainly because when i was in college it was a fake get-together excuse for the local squad of indie/gay/dyke fags to art it up and distribute dietary and political propaganda over a backdrop of shitty rap music and lentils.  see also:  dance parties.

No less an internet celebrity than Mosurock attended one of my vegan dinner paries.

I believe we listened to Brast Burn.

I'd like to add Mark Murrman to your list.

Here's my experience potlucking with these termbros:

Mitch = White Castle Casserole
Andy Hugh Jass = a SHITLOAD of ladkes (and tons of other food)
Mark = Bacon Explosion.

Obviously Icki should be on my list. I don't know how that slipped my mind.

At my dream potluck I would make pulled pork nachos (bbq pulled pork on top of nachos with jalapenos and bbq sauce over top, nacho cheese optional)

Potlucks are like parties, if you get an awesome group of people together, they are really great. It is a bummer when you spend an hour or two making a good meal and everyone brings Oreos. My favorite pot luck dishes that I have made are

1 - Macaroni and cheese from scratch with a quarter ounce of shake cooked in to it

2 - 20 $1 cheese burgers from Burger King.

Also, fuck vegan potlucks.

Totally. I've been burned several times by "going all out" for potlucks, only to see my handmade taquitos disappear in five seconds and having nothing to eat myself. Nowadays my general rule with potlucks is keep it simple and tasty. I usually make some sort of vegetable side, which I believe is usually the least represented food group in a potluck setting.  It also helps to find out what other people are bringing so you don't wind up with nine salads or six bags of chips.

I could attempt to defend vegan potlucks, but... I won't.
no one's having fun but me
