Am I missing something here? I've only read The Wire a few times, but this phrase made me too scared to open their latest issue.

well, here i am - back! it's keenan's term so prepare for new weird america pt 2. the article's about present music-guys using the over-artificial and seemingly excessive + trivial aesthetic of 80s massculture to fuck witcha mind, y' know? of course that article is written in a hype-y tone but most of the artists mentioned are cool to great. although: there are fucktails and cockahaunted, too (with the last i don't even see an aesthetic connection). The only sad thing (besides mentioning those two meh's) is that REALLY the MOST important question isn't asked:
HOW DOES THE FIGHT AGAINST CAPITALISM RELATE TO ALL OF THIS????

Wow, thanks! So much to work with here -- I dunno where to begin. Our first order of business is, of course, to visit Keenan's online Volcanic Tongue shoppe and purchase limited-edition "post-Noise" LPs, CD-Rs, and cassettes by James Ferraro, Spencer Clarke, Lamboghini Crystal, K2, The Skaters, Vodka Soap, Zola Jesus, Gary War, Pocahaunted and other titles on Shdwply and New Age Tapes!!! Awesome!!!!!

keenan says of himself that he's a writer that has the shop to maintain his fix. are you suggesting that he should to go cold turkey or shut his mouth while trippin?

Not at all, dude. I think it's awesome that a tiny, philanthropic community organization like Volcanic Tongue has an author of his prestige and pedigree at their disposal to write blurbs for the records they distribute. Nobody should have to work a regular job to pay for their Keiji Haino records.
You know who else is an awesome writer? Everyone at Aquarius Records.
