I was up in Chicago this weekend with my husband, we had a really good time. We wanna go back up sometime soon, and we could really use some suggestions on restaurants and bars. If any Chicago Termbros wanna chill, let me know!

I'm vegetarian, so my recommendations are a bit biased, but anyway...

Indian - Anywhere on Devon Avenue really. Udupi Palace, Hema's Kitchen.
Vietnamese - Anywhere on Argyle Street. Hai Yen, Ba Le Bakery for banh mi.
Vegetarian - Soul Veg East, Amitabul, Chicago Diner, Karyn's Cooked, Victory's Banner for brunch.
La Cocina Boricua - jibaritos
El Nandu - empanadas
Demera - Ethiopian
Sultan's Market - Probably better falafel places, but it's the best near me.

Also, some good Polish joints that I've been meaning to check out.

Bars...eh. I don't really go to these anymore unless there's a show going on or it's close to my hood in Logan Square.

The Whistler - Foo foo drink bar, dj nights and shows too.
Two-Way - Total dive, but ridiculously cheap beer. $6 pitchers of Old Style.
Quenchers - Fancy beer bar.
Cole's Bar - Hozac DJ Nights
Gallery Cabaret - Free buffet and $5 pitchers on Sunday. Open mic night. Laugh at old people doing "Paint It Black" covers.
Neo - Only on Thursday for new wave night. Dance your pants off.
Late Bar and Continental - 4 am bars.
Rainbo, Danny's, the Burlington, Skylark, the Whirlaway, Simone's - random bars I like.

How the fuck does someone get banned from a record store besides for shoplifting?

Oh I dunno, stand up by the counter and tell every customer who comes up with a record to purchase that the records sucks...

Hit up that Don Chema next time.

Don Chema is alright, but the real deal is Las Asadas on Western by Armitage.  Best steak tacos/super burritos in the business.  No other mexican food in Chicago comes close.

You're both wrong, El Buena Vista on Broadway across from Reckless. The best.

What's a good neighborhood to stay in - cheap(ish), nice(ish) hotels, etc.? The hotel we stayed at last weekend was a really nice one on Michigan Ave., but that was kind of a splurge.

yes.  the hotdog was alright, but nothing special.  no celery salt, no pickle, diced tomatoes instead of slices.  still decent.  the fries were ill though.  the only other thing they have is fried shrimp, which is weird.
