And bring along the new Sing Sing reissues, I'm sure Born Bad (and maybe others like Bimbo Tower) will take some.

And if you havent left yet, shoes that you can walk all day in without them hurting your feet. In other words, not chucks.

Jeremy,

There is a small antique junk/clothes/record fair in a bar on sunday
http://www.brocabrac.fr/index.php?dept=75&id=92017&limite=0
La M?canique Ondulatoire, 8 passage Thi?r?, Paris 11e, M? Bastille

Usually some of our friends Iwan, Cecilia, Fred, Krapo and Laurent are selling.
Records are cheap.

Starts around 2-3 PM

Sorry to do some hijacking, but while we are asking for European advice, which country/city is the best to do record shopping? Especially if you are looking for punk, powerpop, glam, and metal.

if you want records, go to Tokyo. you'll find a few cool record stores in all European major cities of course, but here it's more about walking around, food and hanging out with the natives.

Laurent is right. Euro record dealers tend to know their stuff and you arent gonna find bargains in any of the genres you mentioned, especially since the dollar is so weak (in fact, as far as money goes right now is a shitty time to go to Europe).

But for the best records, plan a trip around Utrecht Record Fair. You really aren't gonna beat that.

I just brought home a decent travel guide to Paris, lots of listings of non-tourist stuff....and it makes me miss the place so much. I wish the dollar was a bit stronger. Just visiting there is such a good time. But the best times have always been around food. First time there we got taken out to a great French Viet place by the Jerome & Vince Normal and that was a blast. The second time Jacques and Lili took us to some place near Mars. Good food, great company, and an even better walk back to our place. Jacques!

i was on october and really liked paris, i didn't like the pubs (i just was at La M?canique Ondulatoire and Le Plastic) but wasn't the greatest days i think... not my kind of music.. specially at la mecanique that was something like a guy rapping and people crazy, but not my thing. no punk or garage that was what i was expecting
but the city... arg.. drinkin at night on the street and walkin around is the best to do for sure, i will come back for sure
