My girlfriend has been trying to convince me to go to France with her this year. I have never caught the travel bug really. I've always had so many hobbies I've never been able to budget thousands for a big traveling spree.

I think about the only thing that could really convince me to go was if I could find all the ye-ye records I want, and maybe some Euro new wave/post punk as well. My girlfriend has some family friends in France who gave her the impression that the French think ye-ye is the cheesiest shit ever, so my hope is that it's cheap over there.

My girlfriend has family-friends in the south of France and one of her best friends is moving to Rennes next year so that's a few places to stay... although none are especially close to Paris. On of her ex-boyfriends lives in Paris, though, haha.

Maybe if you go to towns outside of Paris you can find records cheaper?

I don't know, you guys think it's worth it? When is the cheapest time to go? I could go in August (expensive), November (cold?) or Jan-March (COLD?).

Andy - Contact me. I can give you the lowdown on Paris. It is definitely worth going records or no records.

August got the best weather within your choice but lots of places are closed and there's hardly any shows.

November shouldn't be as cold as January or February (though it's never as cold as places like NYC can get). March should be similar to November.

May/June and September would be the best time to come.

Best city in the world.

September is indeed a great time to be there.

Not likely to find cheap ye-ye records in Paris but you will find other stuff.

no you can find many for decent price, but often not the good ones. ye ye was 95% crap. Polnareff's and Dutronc's are not so hard to get though.

I enjoy Paris and was lucky enough to go twice this year.
Once playing on tour and once on vacation with my girlfriend. I remember Born bad was a cool record shop though.
Didn't go to any shows or anything the second time because I didn't give a shit. The museums, atmosphere, wine and food are a million times better than any show. Just walking around and chilling at cafe's for hours is always relaxing.
Went in January and it was cold but never brutal like the U.S. can be.

though there are good shows, you don't come to Paris for Rock'n'Roll (unless you come to play). There's much better places if that's your main reason to travel.

Still there should be another Born Bad fest at the end of June and last year's was a lotta fun!
