Thanks for the tips. There are like a dozen or so wrestling news/rumors sites and they all look about the same.

Yeah. Most of them are just re-posting stuff from the Observer as far as news. 411 has a couple decent columnists/recappers.

I like this guy, Scott Keith. Snarky as fuck and barely watches WWE anymore but he does usually cover the PPVs and he has some other writers covering Raw & SD. Lots of old coverage which is fun to follow along to if you have The Network. Does an OK job of aggregating daily news on injuries and back stage heat, etc.

I really haven't gave a shit about pro wrasslin since I was like 10, but lately I've been getting sucked in by this Ring of Honor out of Philly. Some real characters there, I'd watch for them Brisco Bro.'s alone

You're missing out. WWE has been pretty good, sometimes approaching great, over the past few years. Get in tune. New Japan is pretty good too, but sometimes the matches are too long and the storylines too "realistic". ROH can be great, but they have too many vanilla midgets. Briscoes are entertaining, but also very open about their homophobia.

What are "vanilla midgets"? I just saw the promo for New Japan, I plan on tuning in tonight. I saw they have Jim Ross on there, he was always good for a chuckle.

Hadn't heard about the homophobia, but a buddy told me that the Briscoes have turned down multiple offers from the big outfits, preferring to stay in the indies. I always assumed getting to WWE was the end goal for all these guys.

"Here's one reason Nash will never be an Internet darling: He called Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero—small-statured, gifted technical wrestlers that lacked big in-ring personalities but were beloved by fans—"Vanilla Midgets."

That's where is comes from. I would imagine USER: Aggravation Overdose is speaking about guys like Adam Cole, definitely Kyle 'O Reilly! Briscoes are definitely on record as homophobic and their schtick(which is probably just them being themselves) has gotten stale for me over the years.

Briscoes had a WWE try out once and were supposedly deemed too ugly/unmarketable or some shit.

That New Japan show on AXS is good, but about a year behind what's going on in real time. Still good though, it's the exact same TV they show in Japan with Jim Ross and Josh Barnett (who is godawful) overdubbing new commentary. Naito is the best heel in the business right now.

ROH is a good watch, but I think they're at a tough point right now where they've lost a lot of their homegrown talent (or they're getting old) and they're relying a lot on guys who also work New Japan. Still, that last PPV where Jay Lethal finally dropped the belt was good. I just can't get behind Kyle O'Reilly though though.

Vanilla midget = small white guys that all basically look the same (Kyle Oreilly is a great example)

Gotcha, makes sense, I guess it's a pretty self-explanatory term.

I'll have to get up to speed on some of this stuff. I get a kick out of "The Cabinet" guys stuff too on ROH.

Richie, a long time ago you posted a clip of Sex Ferguson, what federation was that?

Sex Ferguson is just the alter-ego of Luke Gallows. An in-joke where he portrays an old school territories wrestling dude. Never really worked any matches as Sex Ferguson that I know of.

as far as New Japan goes, I am firmly in the corner of Toru Yano.

Vanilla midgets don't have to be white. Apollo Crews, LoKi, even luchadores can qualify. Vanilla refers to their personality.
