Jay would be dumping his own records on ebay right now for the bump they would be getting, if it were possible.

I sure wish you could post on here from the other side.  I'd like to hear what Jay has to say about all this.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

He pissed a lot of people off, but really was a good guy.

Sucks that he fell into the "live fast die young." To me it seems like he was destined for something better than that.

I think it's crass to romanticize that trope, especially in the wake of this news, but some people really do seem to live that out, consciously or unconsciously.
Internet is just bad pot.

Seriously bummed. It's so weird to think that he's not gonna be around anymore. I was obsessed with the Lost Sounds when they were in their prime and they really influenced a lot of what I listened to from then on out, not to mention the Reatards and pretty much everything else he did. RIP.

RIP: Jay.

Fuck.

sorry, but all jokes at this moment are just not funny.

no jokes there. just love and respect.

i know, i was echoing your comment and talking about previous posts--or ones that were to come.

its just extremely tragic thing, despite his rep on the internet and whatnot.   i had plenty of repect for what he was doing and happy that his hard work was getting him some notoriety.

its just a shocker, man.  hard living or not--29 is way too young to go out.   my sympathies to those who really did know him, as ive only crossed passed with him a few times.  im a softie i guess...ive lost some of my best friends/dad in the last 5 years.   rip.

The other day, when this Liquor Stores stuff came up, I was thinking that it is probably not the easiest thing to live out your public life as some kinda two-dimensional character. People approach you a certain way because they expect you to act the character. The few times I met Jay he was "Jay Reatard", once as a teen and once later. I am sure there are people who know him as "Jay Lindsey" who have a completely different take of him.

Given that the guy had people blowing smoke up his ass from when he was a teen, I give him a lot of credit for not standing still musically. Like Arturo, I was always eager to see what he was going to do next. I can't say I am a big fan of his music, but he was one of the few people who I actively paid attention to.  RIP and condolences to the Goners.
