At the risk of another "FUCK!" post...FUCK!!!!!

And I just got an email from Rich (Lover!/Lost Sounds) telling me also.  WHAT IN THE FUCK.

Only reason I even listen to or know about any of this shit on here besides staple punk from the 80s period the end is because of Lost Sounds hittin me hard long ago.  Makes this news really have another level of doom.

Now he's the 2nd most popular search on google in the past hour.

RIP jay

Think this is a good enough excuse as any to go get some smokes and a bottle of wine.

RIP, Jay.

He was very nice to me back when my band opened up for Lost Sounds a few times. Certainly could be an intense guy, but was pretty easy to get along with when he wasn't pissed off about something. 29 is way too young...

Saw Jay a few times last year, and while the records weren't doing much for me lately, it was still an exhilarating live blast, pure punk rock done perfect by someone who obviously had it in his blood.  Yeah, 29 is just way too young.

And Soriano's right-- he was an abrasive guy, undeniably, but he was also thrust into a persona so early that I don't want to judge that side of him.  Sounds like he went peacefully, and that's one small thing to be thankful for, I guess.

I was just listening to that Angry Angles album in the car on my way home today. RIP. Those who were close to him are in my thoughts.

Sad news indeed.
The first time I saw him perform live was the Reatards reunion at the Chicago Blackout. That remains one of the best sets I've ever seen. Lost Sounds, Final Solutions, and Bad Times are also some of my favourite bands of the past decade. He wrote mostly great songs and was a great performer. His abrasiveness was part of his appeal. You always wanted to see what he did next.

The man made a lot of great music. Terror Visions, the Reatards, Angry Angles, Nervous Patterns, etc. Sucks to see him go.  R.I.P.
