been watching this thread since it all happened, and i'm still in shock, i'm still crushed.

my favorite reatard story must be in milwaukee playing with the lids.  bobby had false started about every song and jay got fed up and yelled something like "can't you play your own songs, asshole?"  and bobby replied "what gave that impression?"  rip peace bobby and jay.

looking back, i've seen the tard play more times than i thought.  i'm thinking i've seen the solutions the most.

saw him play in all the major bands he was in plus a lot of other bands that weren't his, barbaras, lids, digital leather, persuaders, and possibly more.  i'm glad he released alot of records now, cause there may only be a very very few posthumous ones to follow.
don't get me near a guitar, I'll just piss you off.

Weren't he and Jeff Novak working on a record?

Like half of the other people in this thread, I did a Jay radio show last night from 10-11.  It was on my college station (KVRX), and we pick up the FM airwaves right after a garage rock show on the community station (KOOP) with which we split our frequency.  That show was honoring Jay as well, so Austin got three straight hours of Jay on the radio last night.

When we were in Memphis over New Year's, I picked up Jay at some bar near his house and a Bobby Ubangi song came on the tape I was listening to in the car.  Jay made me turn it off because it made him too sad.  In retrospect it's a little bit eerie.

oh yeah, rest of the story was, after bobby said "what gave you that impression?" jay threw down the sticks and stormed off.  then matt williams got on stage and said "let's do this!" and drummed out the rest of the set with no problems.

wait, claire, which new years?  wasn't he in mke this past new years?

Yeah, but he was back in Memphis late on New Year's Day and we were still in town.

Both of these were read at jays funeral. At of the end of Erics he added some extra stuff of comments found online. One was about a 14 yr kid who is full of the spirit and spark.

ha!

or "man, thats cool like a MUTHRFUCKER"

it was halarious when he came to nyc with evil army. i love those guys. i'm like, jay lets go get some beer, what do they like to drink, and jay goes, they only drink budweiser and listen to metalica. don't play anything but metalica. i said,i don't think i have any metallica records at my house. jay says, then they aren't gonna wanna hang out in the record room. and he was right! ha-ha.....me and jay listened to mothers of invention records and got high while the rest of the band played video games in another room. it was halarious. i fucking cried last night.
