Steve, you may be a little misguided.  Yeh I mean, you are 30, so any dreams of being wealthy and comfortable are pretty much closed unless you really luck out.  Why not just teach?  I mean the salaries are decent and you will be comfortable but not wealthy.  You really have to plan out yer life to really get rich, i.e set up some kind of career in your early 20s, have a real goal/path.

40K for a single dude is more than enough to pay the bills and have extra money for yourself.  You have no reason to expect to make 70K, it's unrealistic and you haven't done any work to even think of getting a salary like that.  Sounds harsh, but that's life.  It kinda seems like you have some kind of entitlement issues.  Not trying to be a dick, but just saying that's how it seems.
I don't need to be super wealthy, but making like 40 grand a year as a teacher is just too small a wage to live well on. I think I'd need minimum 70 a year to be content.

Steve are you living on your own or with parents up north? The latter might be an issue.

Mom, 2 bedroom apartment.

Steve, you sure you don't need to talk to a professional?

Steve is a professional!

And I love all this talk about how if you haven't got your life figured out at 25, you're doomed.

...i'm personally doomed, but that's more a result of my own poor decision making than any age-based benchmarks, or relative lack thereof.  AND I just missed the cut-off for suicide last year so I guess I'll just continue.

I understand Steve's feelings of entitlement though.  I think any early achiever or academically minded person from a middle class background can relate.

Lord, how I hate reading threads that are more than one page and aren't based only on pictures.

Forbes list-makers always have their heads up their ass.

How is Sacto more miserable than Gary, Indiana?

Akron should probably be higher on the list, but not higher than Canton. Cinci's got a case, but Youngstown should be top 5.
