theme song

here's some video footage from the last couple days.  cooking chicken, charcoal grilled ribs.  arcade games, pinball, and band practice.  we play our theme song, "garbage party", a new original instrumental, and a really fucked up cover of floyd's interstellar overdrive.

things have been busy lately, tomorrow is the last day at our old house!

it's streaming video like youtube, nothing to download.

the original interstellar overdrive is way more fucked up than that cover.

the original is a great riff, but the middle part of their version sucks.  they had no clue what the fuck they were doing at that point, and could hardly play their instruments at all.  its a structureless, tedious song. i own the same make and model farfisa as rick wright played on the first couple floyd albums, and i usually play that on this song, but we dont have it set up yet.

in fact, i think what makes this version so great is that it doesnt take off into outerspacey weirdness, but actually stays somewhat grounded and follows a natural flow to a strong finish.  oftentimes we take it so far out there that, like the floyd original, it turns more into wank and weird noises rather than actually going anywhere.

we dont cover the song so much as interpret it, and i like and respect the song enough to want to cover it, but in my own way.  it has always been one of my favorite floyd songs, but there is alot of unnecessary wank involved and random plucking around that gets quite boring by halfway through the song.  seriously, my cat could play better and more interesting organ than is on that song.  i can play it better with my elbow.

anyways, fuck floyd, our version is better.

i prefer the old electro mechanicals with the spinning score wheels, but my all time favorite pinball has to be PIN BOT.  we had one at the local roller rink and during all night skates i would play that fucker on one quarter for six hours or more, and then walk away and let other people play the rest of the free games i had won.
