Poland
« on: February 14, 2010, 08:16:48 AM »
I was just in Poland for a week around Warsaw, Krakow, and Lublin. My time was pretty occupied but I think I'd like to go back sometime. Does anyone know of anything good?

I'm guessing those are the only two things you had. Polish food is great.

Go to a football match. Observe the natives.

Gdansk is definitely worth at least a day or two. Some really nice old buildings. The center was largely rebuild after the city was heavily damaged during the second world war, but the Soviets decided to preserve it as a kind of monument.  The only other city I visited was Krakow. I've been told that Wroclaw and Warsaw are also worth a visit. But from what I understand all the big cities suffered heavily during the war, so if you're looking for nice architecture it's easier to find it in smaller towns like Torun and Zamosc.

Pick up some Zubrowka once you're there. It's the best vodka there is.

i tried pretty hard to sample as much of their food as i could. most, almost all of it was bland/boring. but then again i'm not polish.

Looks like I might visit Poland this summer.  Likely staying in Warsaw, might visit Bedzin.
Any recommendations/opinions?
