their first album had a few catchy songs on it but they havent done anything even remotely worthwhile since.  if they go back to that formula they might have another hit or two.

Overrated album that, by my prior calculations, no one will be listening to at all in just a few years time.

It gets so much recognition mainly for the fact it started the whole garage rock revival, the first of the many sub-sub-genres the 2000s gave us.

I dunno, I think the Strokes first LP - while not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination - is a pretty good record. The dubious stench of calculated cash-in permeates the whole thing, but so what? Lots of good records were made by dudes trying to get famous. I kinda wish I had it on vinyl, but I wouldn't pay more than $8 for it.
