I became a card-carrying fanclub member (seriously) after the first single

What did membership in this fanclub entitled you to?

Wow, year-old post... Yeah, funny that I enrolled in that but I thought that first single was fucking dynamite and I won't make any aplogies for it now! I never was in a fan club at appropriate fan club age, and it seemed kinda goofy but I knew theyd end up huge and was into going along for the ride. What did I get? Fanclub-only single, cd, tour DVD, posters, fridge magnet, shoelaces, some other bullshit. I let it lapse after I heard the second LP. Haven't liked anything since either. Kind of a bummer, think first LP is still great.

Did anyone else see them on SNL?

Oh yeah! I thought the new single sounded way better on SNL.

I dunno, I'm glad a band like the Strokes is around again. There's so many shitty bands and singers deserving hate instead of a bunch of good looking, well dressed dudes that write and play their own pretty decent rock n roll songs. Which is kinda rare in the mainstream tv viewing top 40 sense.

I thought they sounded terrible on SNL. What shitty guitar sounds they have. And the songs have no real hooks.
The fucking Zeppelin fallen angel thing sewn on Casablancas' jacket + the fake Native American shit hanging off his dumb leather pants/belt thing? FASION FIASCO.

Yes, I will judge this band by their clothes cuz otherwise they barely exist.

I think that's fair at this point, since there is nothing else tangible to judge them by anymore.  RCA must have been really forking over some serious stylist dollars back in the day.  Remember when this band's fashion was so influential, they almost single-handedly (whether it was indirect or not) manged to get guidos to wear skinny fake ripped jeans and chuck taylor's?

saw them on snl, I had no idea thebest record of this decade would be a mediocre rehash of a barely decent one from the last decade...  If I wanted to hear "last night" I would play last night, not their new single.  It's not terrible but it's not good either.  They obviously have no clue how to write hooks.

They should've been scheduled with Zach G. next Saturday...not gonna waste d/l bandwidth on Miley Cyrus...but wait Jim Carrey and the Black Keys in two weeks!
