Alright look, Bed-Stuy is okay, there is fancy coffee there, even fancy pizza you gotta order by the pie but these things aren't spread out very evenly. Broadway is precisely the border between Bed-Stuy and Bushwick, so whether this B&B is in either neighborhood depends on which side it's on. I usually think of Broadway as Bushwick but I don't think it matters, especially to you, N, cuz the real security issue is that Chauncey is pretty close to East New York and Brownsville, probably the most dangerous places in Brooklyn next to the West Indian Day Parade. But still, it is not actually in those neighborhoods and seeing as how you'd be real close to both the J/Z and the L, the trains you need, AND the A, which is good for getting to anywhere else you'd wanna visit, I'd say go for it.
Still, going there makes me wish I had a gun. It might be that I'm just a racist though.
Yeah, might be. Anyway, what's more racist than Brownsville being what it is? I always got a kick out of the nastiest, cheapest guitar pedal ever made sharing a name with this place, and how it was "Street distortion".  Also, fun fact, West New York is actually in New Jersey and quite "nice".
hahahahaha possibly my favorite bar in new yorks over there.
Wazzat?

Hey Pall Mall thanks for your response, its reassuring.

I can see why people who live in Brooklyn would think it was weird to chose a B&B in Bed-Stuy, if someone was visiting London and staying near where I live, I'd think it was weird too.  I live on a small housing estate near a road know for muggings and near what is supposedly the most dangerous housing estate in my borough.  An MP even filmed a television program there about youth crime and disorder.  Its not an ideal spot for a tourist but I've never had any problems in the four years I've lived here.  There's even a bunch of black teenagers who hang out in my stairwell smoking weed and practising their Grime raps and while that can be intimidating for visitors, they're always really nice and polite to me.

Anyhow the B&B is just West of Broadway so I guess that means its Bed-Stuy but it seems really nice, its $50 to $100 cheaper per night than everything else I looked at, its near the subway and near where some friends of mine live.  Anyhow I'm only there two out of my four nights in NYC and I'll probably be cabbing it late at night so I'm not too concerned.

If I'd know the geography of Brooklyn better, hadn't paid the B&B's deposit already and known about those holiday apartment rental sites in the first place, I'd have gotten somewhere closer to Williamsburg but oh well, you live and learn.
