There's none in Harlem.  Closest you'll come is holes-in-the-wall and kiosks that cell DJ mix CDs and oversized white t-shirts.  There's a number of decent thrift stores but that's about it.  Not worth the trip if all he's interested in is record shopping, but Harlem's a great place for other things.

Dunno shit about the Bronx except for the downtown courtroom district, Orchard Beach, and a couple of friends' places, but I doubt there's any record stores there.  It doesn't make financial sense to open a shop up there, or in Harlem for that matter.
This post is intended for entertainment purposes only and not as a legal opinion.

There are definitely record stores around up in the Bronx. I'm sure there are killer ones buried too deep to know about. Just like there are record stores in Crown Heights that no one has ever heard of, or goes to, but they have Jamaican LPs and 12's and tons of smooooooooth soul shit.

I am 10000000% sure there is some cool record store in the Bronx that I don't know about and will never find.

he collects 12" maxi records and shit, he said that he has already spent 350 dollars in records anyway (in 1 day) so I guess he has already found some record stores

There are definitely some reggae shops in north Bronx kinda near our apt but we haven't had a chance to check them out yet.  I'm sure there are more waiting to be discovered...kinda like how there are doo-wop record stores deep in Brooklyn that look the same as they did 40 years ago (can't remember the name off the top of my head but we hit one between DiFara and Coney Island a couple of summers ago).

I can picture Keegan tossing and turning at night thinking about this, tortured. Existential.

theres the place in the north bronx where they sell tickets for the westchester vintage reggae fest every year.  i forget where exactly but they always say it on irie jamboree right after they tell you you can get tickets at any golden krust caribbean bakery.  93.5 FM.  that station also has a great afternoon show "ebony and ivory" where a white dude from brooklyn and a jamaican dude debate discuss current issues.  dont listen during the day all the talk about is how you should get a mortgage on a home.  the show about cabby issues at like midnight on weekdays that mostly plays sick old reggae is the best.

I stopped by Tony Ryan Records & Moodies Records, both within a block of each other on White Plains Rd on either side of E225th St in the Bronx.  I am not a reggae guy so I can't really comment fully, but Tony Ryan had some reggae and a whole lot of 70s-80s r&b/lite soul/lionel richie kinda stuff.  Nothing was priced.  I almost bought a copy of "Here Come the Warm Jets" but the price quoted ($15) did not match the condition so I passed.

Moodies records was intimidating and I left quickly but is probably a must-see destination for reggae heads.  45s & 12"s stacks piled high and covering plenty of area.  Tons of records, looked like all reggae.

A couple blocks up was Sunlife Total Health Juice Bar, a small vegetarian juice bar/vegetarian luncheon.  The food was great.  Somewhere in between the juice bar and record stores was Kingston Tropical Bakery, a great Jamaican bakery (yummy Jamaican carrot cake!)
