Used effects pedals in NYC/Brooklyn?
« on: March 06, 2010, 07:41:51 AM »
So I had to sell a bunch of my pedals last year to make bank, and now I'm looking to recoup. Yeah, I've already hit up the Craigslist, but no go. Basically I'm just looking for a place that sells used pedals at fair-to-decent prices... I don't feel like getting wallet raped for a "vintage" DOD pedal from 1992. Right now the #1 thing I'm looking for is something pretty basic with a pitch shift function... Danelectro or Boss would fit the bill just fine, nothing cute or esoteric needed. Cheesy digi-sounds preferred. I'm gonna hit Main Drag in a little while; what are some other places I should check?

(P.S. If anyone has a Boss PS-2/-3/-5 they could part with, PM me...)

Oh shit, you got that Dr. Zook's Nut Delay? That thing is great for pitch shifting, all you gotta do is kick it around a little bit. Comes with a built-in talkbox too. No teeth!

If you're gonna hit up Main Drag, may as well hit up Southside Guitars on Driggs. It's on the corner of South 3rd I think.

I'm also in need of some cheap pedals, not necessarily from NY. I really need some sort of distortion or push the gain up till it starts to break up and shit. I got a Fender Twin and even opened up it doesn't have the bite I'm looking for. I'm thinking about a Russian made Sovtek Bigmuff. If anyone has one for a decent price, let me know. Also vaguely interested in delay and reverb units.

What I really need in regards to reverb is a reverb tank off of a Peavy amp if anyone has one they want to get rid of. I don't like the reverb on that Twin so I wanna put in a Peavy reverb unit.

If anyone has any idea how I could take a reverb tank off an amp and set it up so it works like a pedal to run vocals through, that'd be really great as well.

I used to have this.  It was a peavy with a huge magnetic reverb spring/plate that sat in the back.  Left it at a "safe" practice basement for 1 night, and it got stolen.  Getting shit stolen is the worst.  Anyway, it seems like it'd be pretty simple to transport/fix up in another amp, not sure how it would work on it's own...?  It's pretty cheap too.

Speaking of used effects pedals/etc.  I'm looking to build my own, does anyone know any sites where I could find pedal/effects kits?

If you posted this in a guitar-gear-nerd forum, the reactions you'd get would be hilarious.
