CJ played Tokyo last month or so with Daniel Rey on guitar and Brant Bjork on drums. They played all Ramones songs - watching a vid of one of the gigs a friend of mine commented of the pace "damn, that must've been easy for CJ." Rey had a sweet Mosrite copy but was definitely not all downstroking...did like three weeknights to pretty decent sized crowds...whatever, my friend's band got paid so maybe he can keep open his bar/cafe/record store a little while longer...someone stole CJ's bass the first night!!

Years ago..like in 1992..Dee Dee came through St Louis where I live with one of his projects and was putting on a show at some shithole place.  My friend and I drove around for like a half hour looking for the place and couldn't find it.  As we were driving down the block the place was supposed to be in, I reached down for a pack of cigarettes on the floorboard and sideswiped this shitbox car parked on the street....so I took off (did minimal damage to both cars).  Later we were walking around and came past the piece of shit car and a plywood door swung open from the store front and out steps Dee Dee...pissed off that someone had run into his car.  Even after the horrendous "Dee Dee King" bullshit I didn't have the heart to tell him it was me.

I like the Ramones and their shows were always energetic, but being there in the beginning don't make you the best.
