I can handle The Thermals in certain doses on record. Live, they were pretty good last time they rolled through and I checked it out on a lark. I woulda been into it 15 years ago.

Actually, I suppose Parenthetical Girls fits this thread well enough. They've got that precious sound, the looks, the impeccable production, and the dramatic, ripped-from-your-diary lyrics that make the critics swoon. Not as enthralled by their last outing, but they've been pretty killer on all previous releases...and in live performance when I saw 'em a few years back.

Maybe the Dead Science would fit in, too, due to their label affiliation and their links to that band....although I think they're too jazzy and even-more-so-weird than P.Girls.

yo of course i'm aware of how bad most of this shit was, and that termbo doesn't like it either. that's why this is an interesting thread. a thread titled "worst 00's mainstream indie band" would just be a bunch of people agreeing with each other about how much of a joke the klaxons were.

While this is totally true, I still gotta get on the bandwagon and say Smith Westerns, Thermals (except for most of the last album), Hives, and White Stripes.
