Is it just me or has the last home blitz LP gone unnoticed by a lot? I can't stop listening to it constantly even now.

This Lp is so good, but i could do without the noodling filler bits.

True...the most overhyped bands of a year ago are pretty much forgotten by May?

Who remembers anything before this year's Nothing People came out?

Oh wait....Real Estate! I couldn't forget because two days after Pitchfork proclaimed them the best band of 2009, I went to a Moon Duo/Eternal Tapestry show at The Hemlock which they were added to semi-last-minute. The line went all the way down the bar and out the door about 30 feet after we left briefly for a bite to eat. We almost didn't get in, but thanks to Chris from Hank IV for rescuing me and my friends from the back of the line, we got in, and I hadn't seen the place that packed in forever. They were okay for girlfriend-rock, but just really blah. But all these nerdy Docker-clad fucks were raising their microbrews between every song and throwing up "rawk" fingers(?!?!?!). They all cleared out halfway through the first Eternal Tapestry song.......which totally slayed!

I went to this (shit)show as well.  I was going to say that Wavvves were the most overrated band of 2009, but remembering how Real Estate fucked this show up, I"m going to have to give them the title.

I love those parts cuz I totally forget I'm listening to a record and am tricked into thinking it's over and I'm just hearing random noise on the street ... then there's another awesome song.  or it's like the LP spaced out and forgot to play songs.

I agree that the album dropped to little fanfare and little follow-up ruckus; it's probably the timing of the release and maybe a little bit that Home Blitz are so consistently good people take them for granted (although I don't know why, it's not like they flood the market with product or tour all the time or something).  or maybe people weren't willing to invest the time to really let the album sink in.  there are tons of killer anthems on there but it takes a while to gel.  when you get it, it's like a Fleetwood Mac album--tons of genius little touches to the songwriting and playing.
Internet is just bad pot.

I wasn't really aware until I saw that line out the door that such a glowing recommendation from Pitchfork actually resulted in that many instant fans showing up to support any particular chosen band. It had only been two days since they were crowned "best"?!?! I figure that several of those people had previously never heard Real Estate. Had Pitchfork hailed Eternal Tapestry, too, maybe they woulda stuck around and witnessed something worth rising a pint about. These people's response to Real Estate seemed so canned.

fine, you don't have to limit yourselves to 2009, you can include the first half of 2010 as well... I usually find anything that ends up on the top ten lists of most indie record stores and sites like pitchfork to be over-hyped and overrated, usually because a lot of people are lazy and don't really listen to records, they just listen to what was already on someone else's list...

- Wavves
- Real Estate
- Girls
-Vampire Weekend (bleeeeaaaaauuurghhhh)
- Animal Collective
- Grizzly Bear
- The XX
- The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

and any bands with Deer and/or  Crystal in their names....

I love Real Estate---far from overhyped.

Overhyped: Japandroids, Wounded Lion, Girls, The XX, Dirty Projectors.

No on Termbo should have any idea what these bands sound like or that they even exist really. Please hand in your credentials if you disagree.

I think that HomeBlitz LP is getting more respect/press than you guys think. It sold through the initial press fairly quick and got some "indie mainstream" write-ups. I mean, I think DD should be on the cover of Rolling Stone and all, but it's definitely not a record no one is talking about.

I will say this: I don't get Wounded Lion.

I've seen it dawn on people suddenly that they all of a sudden do a 180 on Wounded Lion. Maybe you hafta see 'em live. But how are they over-hyped? I don't see that much press on them compared everything else that's been mentioned. A few stories in some weeklies here in California. An interview on Tiny Mix Tapes? What does that get you?

Anxiously awaiting the worst referee calls in an NFC playoff game between the years of 1992 and 1995 thread. Or how about silliest fashion trend of 2003? Most delicious falafel in Providence, RI during the early 80's?

Would've agreed about Wounded Lion till last week. Hungry?, Degobah System & their cover of Pony People are all mixtape worthy. 3 songs from one album is better than most bands. Tho Cr?nchy Stars is a bad Arcade Fire parody.

Girls get my vote.
