I always thought their records were just "allright", but their show in Berlin tonight was fucking killer. Great band!

I always enjoyed listening to their records.  Haven't spun them in awhile though.  I'd like to see them someday

They certainly are are the best german punkband of the last 10 years! And I have to agree that they are a killer live band!

Yeah, definitely a lucky exception in the otherwise, let's face it, bleak world of german punk. Live show was real fun!

Dean Dirg RULE of course. They always tear it apart live like no other band. Amazing drummer, too.
Ridiculous that this is in the Pop Punk section.

On record they're HFOS lite (which is kinda Dwarves lite when you think about it).

While they have their moments, Todd is spot on in hid analysis. However, the first HFOS LP is up there with the best of the Dwarves. To bring it all around, any chance you (Todd) were the person I spoke to outside the Sat. Afternoon show (Icehuse, ?) during the Blackout '05? I remember stupid shit. Picked up the 2nd Real Losers album same place. Yawn.....

That's entirely possible. I was there (I'm sure) and I was talking (I'm sure) but I'm always confused as to who is who on here so I'm not sure if I was talking to you!

HFOS get an all-time pass for shit like "Dee Dee Ramone" on the singles, and I do like a bunch of songs on the albums.

Its only early HFOS that sound (kinda) similar to The Dwarves. With their second and by far best LP they found a voice of their own. The Dwarves aint got that super fast angular start stop thing going on.

Back to topic. Still havent seen Dean Dirg live. But the HFOS-people told me they blew them of stage every time they played together. And HFOS is a great live band

I have seen Dean Dirg some 5 or 6 times live and also with HFOS together. HFOS are a force live but ain't got shit on Dean Dirg!

I haven't seen HFOS yet so I can't comment on that. There are some musical parallels for sure (much more than with the Dwarves imo) but "HFOS lite" is too simplistic to me. Dean Dirg DO have a certain originality. If HFOS are actually better live, they would have to be possibly the greatest live band ever... Also, either I was to drunk to operate Termbo after the show or this was moved to Pop Punk for unacceptable reasons.

Dean Dirg are for sure HFOS lite, I mean my mom could sniff that shit out. I accept the fact that they may be awe-inspiring live, but the records (as noted) are HFOSl.
