This looks pretty cool, but there's been software to reach those notes between the notes for quite some time. Maybe I'm overdue to revisit some Brian Reinbolt.

not just software but synthesizers...my K2000 from high school had the ability to choose different tunings, just intonation, gamelan etc, or you could just tune it yourself, so I played around with that. Stuff like making an octave the equivalent of a single whole step, so you'd have access to at least 12 tones per that particular whole step.
