Steve, I feel ya, but c'mon, these dudes weren't satisfied with being "just" an awesome fairly straight-ahead punk rock band.
They wanted to reinvent the goddamn wheel. Or at least re-invigorate it. I think they did a very fine job.

I completely get that, even if I personally think this shit blows "Chairs Missing" out of the water. However, I still think these demos deserved an official rerelease somewhere along the line ala Buzzcocks' "Times Up." Mekons never put out anything else that sounded like "Never Been in a Riot," but I'm glad they did cause that song is awesome. Same with TVP's "13th Floor" etc. More than anything else what I'm trying to say is that this early material is fucking great and deserves to be more than an obscure footnote.

Wretched - Finira' Mai? & Libero di vivere...
Perfect. insane. listening as I read the excellent, rambling, and incoherent wretched special in that latest MORE NOIZE zine.

Saw a flyer for this show when we played il Leoncavallo (there's a whole room in the basement dedicated to flyers for every VIRUS gig), good god: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsMk4kLZZRA

I'm with ya dude. Wire is Top 5 for me.

Of course, I also think Chairs Missing is a masterpiece.

Justin Trouble - S/T LP: Wish the rest of this was as killer as "Let's Get It On."

Sun Ra - Astro Black: Yes.

V/A - Pot of Flowers LP: Harbinger Complex's "I Think I'm Down" is the obvious hit here, but the whole compilation is worth a listen.  Actually, it's all pretty fucking good.

Do any Wire heads out there know why they abandoned this stuff completely?

Wouldn't you if you had just written Pink Flag?

I dunno man, I'm as excited by "Lost Boy" as anything on "Pink Flag." To tell the truth, "Pink Flag" sometimes kinda drags for me after "Mr. Suit." Personally I think it's front loaded with all the best songs.

No love for "Fragile"?  "Feeling Called Love"?  Come on now.

Masshysteri - 2nd LP
I like this.

Starjets - God Bless The Starjets LP
NOT GOOD.

V/A - Idealistic Youth #1:  California
Fun.

Channel Three - To Whom It May Concern LP
Not nearly as shitty as I had expected it to be.  Will never listen to it again, but it does not suck.
YOU FUCKING PHILISTINE.
