This is the Pop-Punk thread to end all Pop-Punk threads.  Let's run it into the ground.

Pray tell, nowigotworry: just how far ahead of its time is WL/WH?  Like, twenty minutes?  Twenty years?

i do like the song sister ray, i've listened to it all the way through about 40 times. what does "pop-punk" mean??

i got the album when i was 14.... the library was selling all their vinyl off.... i had been bought a lou reed biography by my aunt and uncle the previous christmas.... so i was curious to see what it sounded like... i also had a tape of the "New York" album without a case and it didn't sound very revolutionary to me. true story

Of White Light/ White Heat, the album on which "Sister Ray" first appears, noted music journalist Lester Bangs said that his litmus test for telling a True Punk Rocker from a Poser(TM) was to pull White Light/ White Heat from their record collection and note if the grooves on the record showed signs of having been played.

True.

This thread reminded me of:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2010/06/21/127987775/you-ve-never-heard-the-velvet-underground-and-nico

"I can understand how The Velvet Underground and Nico was completely groundbreaking at the time and it certainly sets a mood. But I prefer the artists who followed The Velvet Underground's lead such as Beck and The White Stripes.  Those groups give me a heavy dose of melody along with distortion and noise. I?m interested to see how The Velvet Underground evolved with their following releases, but after this review, I had enough to last me for a while."

Not a huge Guitar Wolf fan either.   I like them but I'm not all fanboyish about them like some folks are.  Clazy lock n loll license...whiskey crazings chainsaw sexing
