Why would you need to record a song of a song to show your band. Couldn't you record the song of song you wanted to cover to show the band you wanted to play the song?

i dont have alot of respect for the material i cover, in general i dont even listen to the original when doing a cover, so its usually better to let them hear how i sound playing it than it is for them to listen to the original, case in point...
