The band, venue owner and the vast majority of the audience supported my actions.

Different people handle things differently. I'm not making a value judgment over whether dealing with something, or letting bad/stupid shit happen is better. People are free to turn the other cheek if that's their prerogative.

I'm just saying, the dude did nothing wrong.

You know what to expect when you throw shit at someone. People don't dig that. You want me to throw shit at you when you're behind the bar? I know plenty of people who would punch someone out for throwing ANYTHING at them when they're trying to work, unless they were their friend and it was understood that it was playful.

You don't throw shit at people in an attempt to piss them off, and then not expect them to respond violently.

I mean, don't throw a fucking brick at me, but I can deal w/ ice, cans, spit, beer, maybe even a bottle as long as it ain't in the temple. I really never actually tried to diss you in my 'zine (If I remember correctly).  I was a pretty bad writer 13 years ago, and it might have come across that way, but I swear that wasn't my intentions.  To be honest, I don't even remember what the fuck I wrote and I have no intention of ever reading that piece again.  If you remember the whole piece was kind of detailing the 24 hours leading up to finding my mom's dead body inside of my house and written a few hours after the incident.  Anything that happened in Green Bay the night before was shitty details trying to convey whatever weird shit was happening at the time.  Like I said, then I couldn't write for shit (I can't really now), I was coming out of a pretty bad alcoholic/drugged out phase, and going into an equally bad Jesus phase.  I kind of wish there was a lot less documentation of that period of my life, 'cause to be totally honest it's embarrassing as fuck.

Well, don't feel too bad, the internet constantly preserves my embarrassing shit and it's not just a phase for me. All I remember about that issue was that there was a religious undertone and stuff about how you can't use violence to confront violence at shows, using the above mentioned thing as an example. I had two other friends of mine at that show who were pissed about what I did. They came up to me and told me how I was no better than him for throwing him out. The thing is, Tom used to tell me stuff like "one thing I like about putting on hardcore shows is I don't have to spend money on security, because you guys police your scene yourselves."

Back in the day, when I was a pacifist, I used to go up to people being violent at shows and I would give them hugs and tell them "It's about fun, not violence." The last time I did that, dude attacked me.

I have no problem with people choosing their battles, but every time something like this happens and people get all upset cause a dude hit a woman I think about how patronizing it is to punk chicks everywhere. I'm sure either of these chicks could have fucked dude up bad if people weren't running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Trust me, I'm a big guy and I've gotten fucked up by women a few times. Women aren't inherently helpless creatures, they're just trained to be that way by people who have some idealized vision of women.

You know what was cool? When Schultz threw a beer bottle at the Fatals and cut dude open bad and then they wouldn't play in WI as a result. I didn't even see it happen, but I know it's cool.

I miss violence at punk shows. It made them exciting.

The Black Hats said "this one is for the Strong Come Ons" and Casey was outside (wasted), so I went up the stairs and told him to come down. He fell down the stairs, got up and after a minute or so threw whatever it was at the singer. It hit him, he stopped the song and whined like a baby until Casey raised his hand and said "it was me."
