i can only hear 18 if i turn it up a bit. doesn that mean my ears are definitely ok then? i haev a constant ringing in my left ear and don't make out voices in a crowd very well at all.

I didn't use headphones, just the laptop speakers.  I could hear all except for the 17.  Odd, because 18 was loud and clear.

What's it all down to?  I think the key word might be that I've been going to punk shows: smaller shows, relatively "quieter" shows.  If I'd been raised on naught but a steady diet of live Motorhead five to twelve times a month since the twilight days of the OJ trial, then I doubt I'd have as much left as I do

I'll take the test when I get home, but let me just support this notion by noting that after 25 years of punk shows, I can pinpoint the reduced hearing in my left ear to a 1988 Slayer/Motorhead double bill. Ouch.

Couldn't hear anything above 14.  Can barely hear 14.  Well, I am old.

Jeez, that makes me feel awful.  I'm only 5 years older than you.  I'm fucked and I continue to play in a really loud band.  Gotta get some of those high end earplugs made.

I listened with headphones and couldn't hear anything above 15.  Lamest thing about getting older is having to ask, "what?", every ten seconds.  Well, that and the crushing hangovers.
