Zippin Pippin opens at Bay Beach at the end of May.  Elvis's favorite roller coaster is only 5 tickets.  Super down for having a big GB blowout if you can make it, Missy!  It'd be nice to see K. and meet his ol' lady too.

I'm hearing threats of getting stuck at the cabin up north for 3-4 days... which means I'd be down with stealing the car and doing a g-bay side trip

Doubt that much show going will be happening for us next week.

However, WATER PARKS are in our future.

Turns out the cabin visit isn't so bad.  We were staying in Boulder Junction, and took a trip up to the u.p. to see a waterfall and then down to Mercer to see an old friend of the family's antique store.  Ate a bunch of freshly caught perch and crappies. Took the canoe out for a spin around the lake. The family cabin is nice. 4+ bedrooms, 2 floors, 3 baths. Right on a lake.

Too bad the mosquitos are OUT OF FUCKING CONTROL.

Circus World is a good time. Their hall of clown faces is fucking creepy. Lot's a small tent dioramas and wagons. Highly entertaining circus performers from around the world doin' it on a small stage. Why sword-swallowing acrobats from Romania are living in this tiny Wisconsin town is beyond me. Someone should shoot a documentary.

If yer near there, drop down to House On The Rock as well. Melt away in it. Time does not exist. THEEE most deranged museum curated by a rich collecting lunatic...anywhere. Stay at the Don Q Inn too. They got a igloo waterbed room.

Mount Horeb had a mustard museum. It moved to the other Madison methinks. FREE MUSTARDS. Mustard of the month club. Etc.

Hit my facebook up there's a bunch of Circus world pics (under Baraboooo)...and dells stuff too.

Also: Big fan of the Public Museum in Milwaukee. One of the best natural history joints I've been too.

You don't like beer, fishing or racing?! How do you end up in Wisconsin?!

Wisconsin was my home from ages 3 - 20.  It was my parents choice... not mine.   I will say being "up north" on this trip was highly entertaining.    We saw a big waterfall in the upper peninsula (close to the 'home of the nimrods').. hit a few casinos, went to circus world, spent 5 hours at a water park at the dells, stalked one of my childhood homes (parked across the street and took pictures of it), stopped by to see an old family friend in Mercer (he owns a really nice antique store), took a canoe across the lake, ate a mess of freshly caught crappies and perch, drove FAR TOO MUCH, saw a TON of roadkill (and a wide variety of it as well).

Had some culvers for lunch (including cheese curds), a bratwurst at a church (too bad they plucked it from the steamer rather than fresh from the grill), missed the brat fest (thumbs down!), and the farmers market.  Did manage to stop at woodmans and pick up 5 or 6 bags of curds (Dave didn't realize I was serious when I said I had to pick up a few pounds to bring back)

Good trip overall.

I worked with MPM a bit, and you should see the crazy shit they have jammed into the top couple floors that have never been shown or was pulled decades ago. I'm sure this is common at museums, but there's enough there for several cool museums.

House on the Rock is amazing, though we've covered this many times before. Run down, I don't know, it's been years so maybe, but I love that place.

I like that it's kinda run down. I mean, it's House On The Rock, not some fancy museum or something.

I went there after staying up all night on acid. Highly recommended. Should have brought a one hitter though too.

House on the Rock is great and all, but ya'll should really focus on the natural beauty to be found elsewhere. Yeah, I'm a hippy and I find it ridiculous that the author of this thread could get bored in the Boulder Junction area. Christ, FRANK LAKE is near there. GET A GRIP, MAAAN....
