I had a couple teenage to early 20 bands compared to NOU, but hadn't heard 'em & didn't get the comparison when I did.  I agree w/ a few folks up in this: dude's better on paper.  The idea of the idea of Sven'O.  In Mass Mind is okay.  Have that one I think.  I think buddyz on a booze cruise right now.  I'll take John Spencer, mm'kay?

The singer in my old band was OBSESSED with Svenonius and developed a whiny, affected style of delivery that made our shit sound even worse than it was already... a good amount of my disgust comes directly from that experience.

Well, this sounds like a nightmare. Nevertheless, I bet you'd let Svenonius tickle yr pooter.

Liked them alot in my teenage years.  Saw them at the fireside in chicago and it was really a great show.  I listened to one of their albums more recently and I it really creeped me out for some reason.  I couldn't listen to them anymore.  If they played again, I'd go see them though.

I remember DJing at KALX and putting on a Wierd War record and having to fade it out early because I couldn't wait for it to be early.  Terrible.

yeah i saw em at fireside too... sometimes they let too many people into shows.

strange enough, i saw the short lived 'scene creamers' incarnation of weird war/scene creamers/weird war not once but twice.

sign me up as a hater.  read an interview once where he tried to defend the 'style over substance' bullshit and sounded like a complete twat.

to make matters worse, i saw weird war once.  he showed up later than the rest of the band with babes in tow.  they proceeded to play some of the worst, most toothless music i have ever heard while svenoiousness pranced about like was prince or something.

thumbs down.

a few people like it, enough to build a small indie career, but not enough people like it to get in the charts or be buying yachts etc.

Saw them in 1996 upstairs in a coffee shoppe on a Sunday afternoon. Owned none of their music but that one show was kinda fun considering that this town was chockfulla indie emo sweaters in August motherfuckers. Saw Delta 72 around the same time opening up for Man Or Astro-Man or The Jesus Lizard. The Make-Up was a lot bit better than Delta 72. Delta 72 gets the gasssssssssssssss faaaaaaaaaaaaaaace.
