I always got that one and always wondered if they got shit for it.

I'm listening... is it all instrumental?

Generally speaking, I despise the Black Keys. Seriously dude, stand you ground or whatever, but they are not good.

I do like that EP of Jr. Kimbrough covers, Chulahoma, for some reason though.

that album rocks.  dans voice is like honey, baby.  and he plays that droney north mississippi blues shit so damn well.  most of their later shit is hip-hop oriented riff-rock which im also into (pat learned to drum by listening to wu-tang records).  but they are best when they are at their bluesiest.  when it comes to white boy blooze they cant be touched.

Despise?  wow, that seems so extreme.  Beyond admitting that I thought their version of "Have Love Will Travel" sounded good I've never heard a record that I thought was good, but none of it moved me to despise them.  Of course I do live in a very sheltered world sometimes so I don't have to deal with the alt. bro-nation thinking they are the greatest band ever.  I guess it makes sense that the Kimbrough covers record would be good, hard to fuck up such good source material.

uh its actually real easy to fuck that up.  i couldnt imagine any other white rock band putting out a kimbrough covers record that would sound even close to as good as what the black keys did.  no one in rock bands really plays guitar or sings like kimbrough did but the closest we have is dan auerbach.

man im jealous.  i saw them a couple years ago and it was one of the best shows ive ever seen.

i like their 'no fun' cover.

its unfortunate that they really fucking suck now.  they were amazing for so long but the last album they put out blows and now they play live with a backup band and it sounds terrible.  its weird how they got so much quieter and tamer when they ADDED 2 people.  they need to fire those fags. also they use the same 2 songs of their bad new album in like every goddamn tv commercial.  im so glad they were still a 2 piece when i saw them.
