Got the via Facebook in a language I can't understand. Don't know the cause, but it seemed rather sudden. But, he was pretty low-key in a lot of ways, so who knows. He was 73 or 74 years old, I believe. His website says thus: http://www.conrad-schnitzler.de/neu.htm

I'm a huge fan of his work and listen to it at least twice a week. Pretty damn bummed, but he accomplished much in his life and has a huge discography (much of which is made up of small-run "private" releases).

Gonna stay home tonight instead of going to some stupid punk show to drink beer and maybe some wine and listen to ye olde' Schnitzler...

I fucking listened to some Schnitzler album last night while I passed out at 6 AM. One I never heard before.

Turns out it was stomach cancer. Ouch. He made his final recording 4 days before he died. What a trooper!

This should be interesting...
Before dying he had put together this project where he sent "his DNA" (hair, nails or whatever) to various parts of the world. Conrad specified that he didn't want people to visit his grave in Berlin, they should go to all the places where he is "present" or "buried".

For his artistic mission to continue German law would have to allow for cadavers to be hacked to pieces and sent around the world by mail... unlikely.
