Scott, I saw her for the first time last year at the Elbo Room. It was really incredible! She's straight up the female James Brown minus the PCP. It was easily the best show I saw last year. She does not disappoint! Cheers, D-

I saw her at Lee's Palace in Toronto a few years back and can attest to every word Ms D says. Best/worst part was being at the side of the stage digging it and Jones pulling me on stage to, uh, dance with her. I don't/can't dance, which must have become painfully obvious within the first 15 seconds, but it was amusing being I was definitely the only Slayer-shirted, messy-haired slob in a house packed with 700 afro-sporting, brown-leather-jacket-and-tinted-sungleasses nu-soul hipsters grooving away.

yep, that's why she is so rad. She gets everyone up on stage, makes a little love to'em (dance-handicap or not) and just breaks it down. Last night, I winded up on stage too! I lost my shit and it was soul dance party 2006! But for me what else is new?? Gotta love it!
