American Hardcore..what didya think?
« on: September 28, 2006, 09:03:50 AM »
Saw this on Sunday...and it pretty much left me flat. Some OK footage and interviews (ie: HR lounging on the lawn and Rollins beatting on that kid), but it was a pretty balnd movie. Wasn't it???

Grateful not to have to cop Roger Miret's head again. Likewise it was a relief not to have Jello carping at every turn, though I didn't think the DKs shoulda been left out altogether.

It's easy to criticize what should have in and what should been left out, but all in all the filmmakers did a decent job I think, is the dvd out yet? Bet there's some interestring extras.

I personally haven't seen it yet and I'm not even sure if I will go see it but I have heard it's nothing special. The only cool aspect is just seeing that type of footage on the big screen. For the most part I heard it's just the samething everyone's already seen a million times before. I think I'm just going to wait a year and then watch it on Youtube for free. I'd rather spend 11 dollars on something else.

Yeah very easy BECAUSE LEAVING THE DKs OUT OF A FILM ON AMERICAN HARDCORE IS LIKE LEAVING THOMAS JEFFERSON OUT OF A HISTORY OF AMERICA. Fucking dumbass.

Thomas who?  *collective groans*

From everything I've heard the movie sounds pretty interesting, but not definitive.  I read the book, so I wouldn't expect it to be.  The main gripes that I've heard are that certain bands were left out and that he says hardcore died in 86.  Well, they're both valid points...but it's just one dude's opinion.  I think if people could look at it more as his personal history of hardcore.  Maybe they should re-title it "Steven Blush's American Hardcore."  Haha.

All I know is that it had better make it to Milwaukee.  I'll definitely see it if it does.  I mean, the dude did do a date here on his book tour.

Do people not like this movie because they have been told not to like it? I'm gonna go see it with an open mind. I read the book, it SUCKED. But this is the movie. So I'll have an open mind.
