They actually gave their demo to Elvis Costello when he played in Green Bay.

I bought this at a pawn shop for $1 about six months ago, but I've only ever played a song here or there on my radio show.... never pulled it out when I was home.  "Favorite Shirt" is a pretty great song, though.  The weird thing was that I bought this at a cheap pawn shop that literally had ABSOLUTELY no other even remotely paletable CDs besides this thing, a Mojo Nixon CD with no artwork jacket, and Sugar's "File Under Easy Listening," of which they had two copies.  So I bought them all for a buck each (minus the second copy of the Sugar album, obviously).  What's even weirder is that I walked across the street to another pawn shop a few minutes later and found (no joke) SEVEN copies of that same Sugar album, all promo copies.  But it wasn't like a used CD store or anything (where they always have this), it was just the neighborhood pawn shop that just happened to have CDs.  Rykodisc must have went absolutely fucking ballistic on the promo for that album... there must be hundreds of thousands of those promo CDs floating around at every used record store on the planet.

Malto, I have "Lo-Fi..." and "Banda Macho" in my to sell pile, but unfortunately they are CD only. If you just want to take them, or borrow them to listen to them, they are yours.

Thanks, sir, but I don't have a CD player-- I can only listen to vinyl since Skeletor moved out.

Skeletor, eh? I never knew that was her name. I see her walking up Georgia every morning on my way to work.

I'd recommend it but I'm too close to be unbiased. Not gonna get into any arguments with the criticisms here since they are mostly about taste and The Figgs were never a straight punk or any other kinda band besides rock and roll, which is something many bands out there really can't do. Another thing is that they don't rely on volume or distortion as a substitute for tunes. Sometimes I wish they would crank it up a little more but whatcha gonna do. This year marks 20 years together and I've been seeing them since day one. They can still pull off amazing shows given the right crowd or night. They are playing 4 dates in Wisconsin (3 in Green Bay!?) soon and have a new record coming out on Gern Blandsten called "Follow Jean Through the Sea". Exited to see this topic on this most exalted board anyway! XO, Philthy

I'd probably smile less, if it weren't harder for me not too! I'm completely manic about 90% of the time. not just on stage! we're talking extreme situations in which i should be crying or killing people, i end up smiling or laughing---hysterically.

i like your band though. really, i do. you've had bands i haven't liked in the past, but i definitely dig pink reason.

see you on saturday.

I like songs here and there by this band, but never went full-on ape over 'em, and never really got why others did.  Based on live reports from friends, I braced myself for a huge bang-up amazing live show the first time I saw 'em...and was treated to a pretty anticlimactic rock-by-numbers thing every time.  Not a bad band by any means, but you get the idea.  And why did the guitar player suddenly become afraid of the volume knob?  The last two times I saw them, it seemed like he purposely turned his guitar waaaay down in the mix.  Symptom of Singer/Songwriter Disease?

The "Brown Sugar" thing Paul mentioned was hilarious.
