Is there a way to hack in and sell those leads for significantly less to the "casual flipper" chumps?

It would have been cool to have a record flipper guide me in my early teens.

"See, you'll want to join the Sub Pop singles club, but you already missed most of the good stuff, and take this advice, once the records start getting bad, leave & don't look back. You'll also want to look for people selling their old punk records to buy this new grunge shit. Take advantage of that. And I know how much you love the Damned and Dead Kennedys but you should try to buy some things you see by old bands you've never heard. Also, about ten years from now, buy every White Stripes record you see, I don't care how bad it is."

You could offer $50 to someone that bought the subscription and then sell the leads...

This dipshit is just doing what a lot of investment blogs do. Offer bullshit hyperbole and then ask to be paid for it. Except, here there is no S&P 500 or SPY to track, no share price history to track, no Price/Earnings history to track, no triple/double top peaks, etc. Just worthless inherent, speculation. Based on...what? Pathetic attempt to couple the vinyl market with the investments market.

The two don't even go hand in hand. The investments market is ONLY about making money. Period. There is no other motivating factor. People react based on whether they think they are going to gain or lose money. The vinyl market is chock full of people who buy that have no intention of making money. They buy for other reasons besides making money. In fact, I'm gonna guess that the strong majority of people who buy records aren't doing it to make money. They are doing it because they like the record, they want to be included, they don't want to miss out, they like the cover art, they like the song being covered, they like the artists other records, they think the song title is funny, they want the color vinyl, they want the raer item,  etc ad nausea.

If people are paying him $100 for investment advice, they have been properly scammed. There is nothing to base this dudes speculation on, on anything other than guessing. There isn't a standardized track record that is measured over years. So please let me stop anyone that is going to chime in with, "I saw _________ sell for ________ on ebay, so __________ is going to sell for ____________ on ebay!!!" Besides, I've yet to see any detailed analysis macro market analysis (because it's basically impossible because there is no established market for records that were released ) On the other hand, if people are paying $100 to be alerted to when the next raer is going to be available for purchase, dude has a better chance of making some money at this game.

Personally, I hope this duo fails. Not cause I give a shit if they get $8,000 a year to blindly speculate as to what is highly profitable, but because this really is the lowest of the low in the record game.

Personally I take the Warren Buffet approach to record flipping. I only speculate on songs about trains.

We may have a slot or two opened, so please see the ?contact? section for our email address, if you?d like to join The List. The subscription fee is now $250/quarter or $800/year, and applicants are screened via a brief questionnaire.

Strange on oh so many levels, but I want to see the questionnaire.  Badly.

This blog seemed just odd when it 1st got posted here but reading it through now it seems weirdly anal and pathetic.

On a different tack I liked this ......

Quote
A couple of the guys that played with Branca on his early records went on to start a famous band. The famous band, which took some of Branca?s ideas, namely jamming drumsticks into the strings of oddly-tuned guitars and playing them very loudly, jazzed those ideas up with some hoo-ha about a No Wave revival, wrote a song glorifying Charles Manson, and made a fortune. Ha-ha: take that Terminal Boredom dudes!

....take what exactly? Is this an ill-articulated dig at presumed SY fans on TB?

Based on the on-going interest in roots music collections, the beautiful packaging of this set and its presumed scarcity, I?m going to give Aimer Et Perdre: To Love & To Lose: Songs, 1917-1934 a strong buy; I imagine it will be gone before a lot of collectors know it exists.

This motherfucker probably used Kickstarter to "fund" this project.  Is flipping something people "get into"?  I bet this guy has never been hit in the face.

And in a way - now - YES.
