Just for the record.  I am not staking any claim to Marks music, or Lenguas Largas' music.  Never have.   If I did think that I owned Marks music, you know what I would have said?  I would have said, "I own Marks music....they should PAY ME MONEY".  But you didn't hear that.  You know why you didn't hear that?  Because I didn't say that.  Because I never meant that.  Didn't even know you were doing a tape of it Mark.  I was taking a short internet piss about Burger for a second, and yeah, it got pretty heavy on the TB-typical slams.  Nothing to do with Mark, or his band, or his music, or his tape (???? is there a tape?  Hey, go for it man, IT'S YOUR MUSIC).

When I took a shit, I was referring to the handling of reissues of the Moonhearts, So Cow, and Useless Eaters material, because by the third time it happened, it just felt kind of shitty.  Nobody there had cared enough to consider the original label in the equation (NOT finaicially!  This is where you misunderstood what I meant!).   I do NOT want a cut of anything...I DO NOT WANT ANY MONEY!!!   I don't even want an ego massage of "hey massa, can we do dis?!!  PLEEEZ MASSA?!!!?".  No man, I don't OWN it, and I don't ultimately care what the bands do with their recordings.  What I meant, and what I later clarified is...I thought it would be a basic gesture of respect...something nice to see, but not necessary I guess.  To just go ask the original label if you can press it on tape.  It isn't something crucial.  It's just nice after the third time or so...when I spend all my time promoting records and paying for all the manufacturing and ads and shit, plus countless hours of writing descriptions, doing artwork for lots of folks, and just generally giving a fuck.  Maybe I can like....know what is going on?!

I WILL give you this though....I was out of line on saying booking shows is easy and/or something to scoff at.  That is something to commend anyone for doing to help any bands.  Even tape labels who my general opinion of is very low for a variety of other reasons.

All this stuff about Todd not being paid back...I guess I can't blame you for being mad.  It's not your fault because you didn't know I guess.  You are just misinformed and late to the party not knowing what happened is all.  I emailed both Todd and Isaac last night.  Hopefully Todd will let you know that I paid him back for the LL LP co-release.  It evened out with payments made in yes, both ACTUAL MONEY and some remaining copies too.  Seriously, go ask Todd about that...PLEASE!  I think you might settle your nerves a little by finding out some of this information.  I tried to explain this to you last time it came up on TB too.

That is by far, the single most fucked up release I have ever been involved with by the way...in terms of production.  The release is great, but the whole assembly was NOT my norm.  I hate co-releases because I never have a good enough knowledge of what anyone is doing and I'm a disorganized guy always drowning in a sea of shit to do for the label.  Sure I admit there are aspects of communication I should have handled better after all is said and done.  But that doesn't mean I didn't resolve the issue already with Todd and figure it out though.  I did.  If you still don;t believe any of this, there is literally a third party mediator who was involved who can verify everything that happened just like I said it happened Mark.  In light of all of this, for some reason you claim that I somehow "fucked over your friends" which is so not true.  The fact is I haven't done anything except moan on TB about Burger.  You come at it from this integrity integrity integrity, stand up and be a man stance, but if anything, you have put more words into my mouth, and made more false claims about what I am supposedly thinking without knowing any of the facts straight first.  That's fine though, and I chalk it up to basic internet bullshit.  I just wanted to set the record straight on all of the shit you mentioned because it's not the case for most of it.

And look, I'm not very good at management, business acumen, etc etc, I just consider myself a fan of great music and I have tried to push as much quality stuff out as I could help at any given time to do (probably just like BURGER RECORDS even Mark...you know...the ones you are defending so hard).  That?s my mindset.  I know I have my faults (shipping sucks).  But this is way overboard and from a single bitchy post.

This thread reminds me of the old wild west Termbo.

Speaking of which, I heard that Mark Beef got shot at a show once, and the guy who shot him is dead now.  Confirm, Beef?

from todd c(who doesn't know anything about this thread) "yea we "settled". It took forever and was the worst collecting of money that i've ever had to deal with. and i've dealt with some shady ass distributors in my life. its kinda a long story (i told isaac) but i knocked a few hundred bucks off and all the sudden he paid me. total bullshit but i just got to a point where i felt that he was never going to pay me so anything was good."

I apologize for making it seem like you hadn't FINALLY settled, Matt, but my sentiment is still there. YOU HAVE NO PLACE TO TYPE OR TALK IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM LIKE THE ARBITER OF GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES FOR RECORD LABELS!

Ok now THAT LAST PART is fair.  And if that's what you meant the whole time then yeah I apologize for being a shit about that definitely.  It just sounded like you were saying I never paid Todd

oh but wait...Burger records aren't fans of music, in fact they have no love for it at all. They are just, what was it, oh yeah " STYLE/SUBSTANCE POACHERS.  They invest NOTHING into ANYTHING."

keep backtracin' guy. I got the cyber police on the case.

and no Todd hadn't told me that you had paid him back so I was pissed about that AS WELL AS you being a shitlord and acting like you somehow had ground to stand on and tell anybody about integrity or honesty or anything else when it came to running a record label. Like I said Im glad you did pay him back (although he says right there that he had to knock off a couple hundred dollars so not all of it, huh?) but you took forever and were shitty about it and still suck.

Todd contacted his lawyer to suggest me paying him back something like $500 instead of $700.  It was Todd who made the offer to do that, and I also gave him copies to sell.  This whole Burger thing is a simple opinion about tape releases that's it.

It WAS completely stupid of me to talk about Burgers contributions to music.  As Mark pointed out they do release plenty of original cassette releases too.   But i think my main apology owed is to everyone reading this shit because I certainly dont have the room to talk about another  labels business side either.  Sometimes I am way too close to my own fucking self to see the problem.  Mark does make a good point: I have no room to talk shit and so I apologize for slamming the business ethics and contributions to music that Burger has made.

contributions to music that Burger has made.

Right up there with Stravinsky, or Miles Davis.

Does John Cage have a tape on Burger?

That's pretty dope.

They should do all the Freestyle Fellowship records.

After all, the only thing that sounds better coming out of a boombox than hardcore is hip-hop.
