Fashion Pimps & the Glamazons, 'Jazz 4 Johnny' might be the best thing to come out of Cleveland in the last 5 years but to be sure I'll probably have to set aside one night where I get drunk and blast it alongside the Cowboy, Donkey Bugs, The Mind and all that other stuff.

Dollhouse 7" isn't up to par with the demo unfortunately but it's still very very very good.
Taqbir 7" is what I wish all Italian hardcore bands would sound like but unfortunately none do (apart from Spirito di Lupo on occasion).

I saw Vole (Prague hardcore) twice last week and we were all too drunk to remember to get their record, but they were absolutely great live with a sick, dark and noisy spin on Motörheaded crustpunk.

Mark E Smith owes his entire career to Rex Harrington, who did the talk singing thing first and better with a lot of style and panache that Mark E Smith lacks because his whole fake persona is to act like an authentic person but of course that is just a schtick as well but not an original one either because it goes back to John Lydon all the way to Bob Dylan with the I am too real to give a polite interview gimmick. Now we have Twitter and we can all get the straight answers we deserve. Whereas Rex is upfront about the fact that he is playing a role. And he plays it like an expert entertainer. So he is more honest.

I have had a bad couple of years in 2007 and 2008 and 2009, and through it all the same repetitive riffs of the Fall were there annoying me in the background because everyone decided that Mark E Mith’s authenticity act was actually authentic.

I watched those same people many of whom I cared about go through hardship that they never thought they would go through, as did I.  Maybe the reward we have for those years that have been almost like devoured by locust is this…

We see the folly in our old ways and some times we can even look back upon some of our pasts in a more positive light. Learning from your mistakes is important, but do you know what else is important? To know that great things are still possible. Redemption is real. It’s just a fact of the universe as real as string cheese theory.

Many people out there, including me, have failed at conveying this simple fact.

Now that I think about it, Rex also had one hundred times better backing music with some actual thought and craft put into the composition. So maybe it is not a fair comparison.
