Got nothing but love for Opal, but the rest of the paisley schitt I just can't get into it, it's just like Erick said.

So, you're saying that dream syndicate - days of wine and roses is shit?

Not at all! I meant "shit" as in "the rest of the paisley stuff". I haven't made myself clear, I was saying that I agree with Erick in this:
Quote
95% of Paisley Underground shit will leave you wanting. What you imagine it might be is a lot cooler than what it actually is.

Mix-tapes for women, a nation's hidden shame.

Come to think of it, maybe I should make her one for Valentines Day.  I'm all out of gift ideas.

Ooga Boogas new LP
Stupendous album, as expected.  "Mind Reader" and "Sex In The Chillzone" (tasteful sleaze guitar!) stick out after initial listens, but it all works very well.  A worthy follow-up to "Romance And Adventure".  Between this, R?J?YTT?J?T and the latest SS LPs, 2013 is ruling so far.
YOU FUCKING PHILISTINE.

I'd like to hear that as well.

Just reading about some band Warm Soda. What's the story here? Are they worth hearing/searching out?

One of several great unreleased Fools Face songs on YouTube that I come back to often:

"When You Smile" is a total mix tape song.  Mix tape opener even.

Warm Soda is another Melton project, haven't heard it yet.  Most of his stuff(Bare Wires, Snakeflower) is pretty mediocre to me

The Garbage and the Flowers - Eyes Rind As If Beggars 2LP+CD
Waited for this to be reissued for years now. Can't really believe it's out.

Cows - Cunning Stunts and Orphan's Tragedy
Like the songs on first better, but the latter has superior sound.

I'm stoked for Spray Paint, Banque Allemande, Nothing People and 100 Flowers. Little worried about higher postage rates.

Who did the GATF reissue?  The vinyl of the OG barely existed.

Dead-on assessment of the Cows records, though Orphans is still about 50% great.  Their last good-sounding record, then Iain Burgess moved to France and AmRep got seduced by ADA and had to start pounding records out on a schedule.  And they got a lesser drummer, and Shannon adopted a rapping delivery that wasn't so happening, etc etc.  You need a copy of Effete and Impudent Snobs, if you don't already have one.  I'm intrigued by David Livingstone's talk of a much better-sounding mix of Daddy Has a Tail that didn't make it to vinyl.

Marek, from what I can tell overseas shipping for a box-of-records-type package will be about $5 USD more than before, painful but you usually buy 5-6 records at a time so it won't be too nasty for you.  What it's gonna kill is the Discogs side of things for me, I think - fewer single-LP orders to the UK.

And I'm excited for all four of those records.

Eh, "Daddy Has a Tail" doesn't sound as good I guess, but even beyond the superior songs, I like the fact that it's so noisy and raw. I don't even think about the production when listening to it, it certainly doesn't get in the way. "Chow" is god.
