I watched "Contempt" last week, too.  It was entirely depressing and better than I remember.

Yeah I hadn't seen it in years, but I remember the first time I was home sick, and yeah it kinda fucked me up. This time around I was pretty much floored with the whole asthetics involved- the sets, decor, clothing...man they just don't make pretty movies like that anymore.

watched Du-beat-e-o the other day. great joan jett footage, el duce, and running commentary throughout the whole film were all good elements but i was pretty bored throughout. its interesting how it was made and put together but just doesnt work as a whole i guess.

also saw Anguish. great 80s horror slasher movie within a movie. creepy old lady from poltergeist is in it. some great pychedelic moments too. one of the best 80s horror flicks ive seen.

The Wild Life. It's by the same people that did Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Chris Penn is the rowdy lead character alongside his friend Eric Stoltz who gets half the spotlight. One of the best 80's movies ever but it's not on dvd. It was on tv this afternoon. Lucky find since I'd never heard of it before. Now it's one of my favorites. I checked the reviews on websites and everyone else gives it at least 4 stars. You gotta give it up for this shit. Randy Quaid plays a fucked up ex-Vietnam vet in it and Lee Ving plays a tv repairman.

Wild Life  is pretty awesome. Haven't seen it in years, but we watched that shit daily for a whole summer when we were kids. Cameron Crowe wrote it too. I wish I could see it again now.

Does anybody think "Ghost World" is worth watching? I finally got around to Youtubing some of it (mainly just to look at Thora Birch), and it was pretty funny. I'm assuming the online clips are the highlights and cover for what might be lame hipster type snooze fest. Tell me.

I like Ghost World. It's waaaay better than Bad Santa or Art School Confidential. Nothing touches Crumb, though, when it comes to Zwigoff.
