On a 2000's movie kick: "The Rules of Attraction", 2001. I remember hating this in college when I first saw it, but as an adult, it kind of captures the gross hook up culture and general angst of not getting who you want in college. Lots of drugs going on, too. Great ending as well. I dunno, I liked it.

"Crazy/Beautiful"- silly teen romance about a poor Hispanic kid from the bad end of LA and the rich, white daughter of a Senator. I guess still somewhat apropos in light of recent racial tensions: there is a lot of racial stuff in this movie. She turns out to be crazy and neither of their parents approve of the relationship. Was surprised at how sexual this movie was for 2001. Meh, it's okish.

A few weeks back I watched Queen & Slim, which is actually the best movie from 2019 for me, I just got to it late.  Not just incredibly relevant to the present moment, but also a really great piece of filmmaking overall.  It also was way more intense and stress-inducing for me than any part of Uncut Gems.  Great cast all around too, I love Bokeem Woodbine and Daniel Kaluuya.  Really a shame more people haven't been talking about it.

2020 is basically a LARP of this movie, "The Hate U Give" and every George Romero film.

Still on my 2000's thrift store kick: "Assault on Precinct 13", the 2005 remake. Part way in and I already feel like this is going to be too cheesy to make it through, but the cast is good and looks to have a lot of action. I've never bothered to watch the Carpenter original, which I am sure is a load better than this, so I might look into it. Typical cop/thriller movie from that time period.

The Lighthouse was great but not enough for my list of fave movies of the (last) year. On the other hand, went to see Swallow last night and it made my list for 2020.
Haven't watched Swallow yet, but just the trailer made my skin crawl.

"Killer Klowns from Outer Space", original MGM Midnight Movies DVD release. What can I say? 10/10 recommend if you haven't seen in awhile, the comedy holds up well. I've noticed this series pops up a lot at thrift stores, so people are getting rid of these. Good series that covered all of MGM's cult/horror/b-movie jazz.

Ferrara's newest Dafoe collab is up for streaming for the next week or so... very low-key flick, but plenty to get into for people who like hanging out in Rome, going to AA meetings, and watching old guys hit on younger women. Really looking forward to the next one (Siberia), which seems to have already pissed a lot of people off.

This might fit better in music shit, but I found a copy of "Dig" recently, and watched it yesterday. Pretty cool throwback to the 2000's neo-garage rock scene, but I gotta tell you: viewing this again as an adult, I found Anton unbearable. The pride and ego was just too much for me. I think I found this cool when I was a kid, but seeing it now, it just looks like elitist garage rock assholes with swollen heads. And it reminds me that I was kind of like that as a kid, too. So it's interesting to watch later on down the road. Def. a study in pride and narcissism. If you haven't seen this in awhile, I recommend.

Re watched green room. Still a gut punch holy moly

My attention span is shot so im having a hard time finishing movies. Gave up on color out of space even tho it had all the elements there (cage, Stanley) it fell totally flat. Might try again at some point

Live like a cop die like a man was amazing tho. Nihilistic Italian copsploitation. From the same guy who brought you cannibal holocaust (which tbh i think is one lf the weaker cannibal films) but ya this delivers!

Gf has amazon prime i cant believe the shit they have on there

Yeah, I don't get it. I've been exploring their work: "Great tunes" is an over statement. There are a few stoner rock, Velvet-y songs that are ok...and now have a cult following due to being on TV shows. No doubt discovered by people after watching "Dig". But the rest is garbage. I dunno, seems like quantity over quality. If you put out three records in one year, chances are they are going to suck.

It's not your attention span; that movie was just a huge misfire. I love Stanley and Cage, but the whole thing just felt off. I'm not familiar with the source material, so I have no horse in that race, yet have read from sources who are that it doesn't hold up. The special effects were especially cringey.
