I guess Doug was on some Food Network show tonight too (which inspired me to see if it was on Youtube).  No cable, so I couldnt see it, but i guess its a chicago edition of a show called "Hungry Detective".

Since I missed the show, I'm gonna grab a dog and some cheese fries tomorrow!

me too! and I was so close.  I was in there having a dog with my nipper.  there's definitely some footage of us but it was unused in the flick.

I caught the spot on Food Network last night. "Hungry Detective" is an ex-cop who visits different towns and supposedly shows you the good local joints to eat at cheap. He went to a steak house, a rib joint, and a couple other places. Ended at Hot Doug's, where Doug made him a classic Chicago dog and he also ordered an Antelope sausage. It looked amazing. Really, I almost wept looking at it. I love that place so much.

I was bummed traffic slowed me down and prevented me from making it to Hot Dougs before he closed....but then I went to Max's Italian Beef instead...i'm no expert on Italian Beefs, but that was definitely the best one I've had.  And the "Ghetto Fries" weren't bad either.

Has there ever been an official restaurant thread on here?  Seems like we could come up with a good list of places to check out for different cities.
