I hope this means they're coming back to the states. Great band. Listening to the songs on bandcamp and it sounds great to me. Not what I would consider Brunch Rock by any stretch of the imagination, though certainly a progression from some of their early material. Love that stuff as well, but some people aren't interested in making the same record over and over.

I will certainly give this record more attention with an open mind. I don't want Cheveu to repeat themselves either. Just so long as the records are GOOD, I'm happy. And on that point (on first listen anyhow) I'm undecided.

Having said that, I didn't like 13th Floor Elevators 'Easter Everywhere' OR Peter Hammill 'Flight' (Side 2 of 'A Black Box') OR Wire '154' (and so on) the first time I heard them. Which AMAZES me now that they're all-time favourites of mine. That sort of gets me thinking about the changing times and shorter attention spans encouraged by the internet. Records often take a while to insinuate and reveal themselves and I'm probably less likely to persevere these days when the choice of listening is virtually infinite. Which is a mistake, no doubt.

this is a just plain weird album. did NOT like it at first, but i stuck with it and now i think it's pretty great. there's a lot to take in, lots of odd details and twists and turns. it's a demanding listen for sure.

there's only one Brunch-esque moment on here, the wordless verse part of "Polonia" sounds like it could be in a car commercial or something. but the rest of that song is strange and all over the place.
i belong to the bland generation

Pirate Bay is great, one of their best songs in my opinion.  Some parts of this still have me scratching my head, but perhaps thats a good thing.  Definitely gets better with every listen.
