Only been there once as a daytrip from Copenhagen. Seemed like a sleepy/ fairly boring town. There should be a decent hardcore scene there though if that is your thing. At least we had a "Malmo Hardcore Invasion" festival here in Hamburg last yeas where only bands from Malmo played.
Copenhagen is awesome though. There's a bunch of people from Copenhagen posting on here so i leave it to them to give proper and updated recommendations..

Yup. Been living in Copenhagen - less than 30 mins by train from Malmo - for over 30 years. There's never been more action than right now. Lotsa underground gigs for fans of noise, hc, death/doom metal, postpunk, psych, freejazz etc. Vintage cult/exploitation flicks are shown each month on 35mm. The queer/drag/transgender scene here is also worth checkin out. And the hippie-city-within-the-city, Christiania, if you want get stoned and chill.

My band's playing at this upcoming festival in Ungdomshuset - the # 1 venue for underground punk, hc and death metal:

Not a bad dish of new punk acts in the K-town scene

I rarely go to Malmo cuz I kept getting arrested by the pesty cops and big brother security...unlike Copenhagen where I can talk myself out of any trouble.

Thanks for the replies ,I'm basically in malmo cooking for 3 months , I'm into psych/punk/weird / space / metal.I went to Copenhagen the other day but just ended up walking around the train station drinking beer and going to the ripleys museam.I saw that Michael Rother is playing neu! and harmonia stuff sometime and april probably check that out. Kindof a bummer that my days off are mostly
sunday/mondays .Loooking for some cool cheap places to eat , record stores , and  places to drink.

Yeah, Tangerine Dream are coming as well.

Best record stores in Copenhagen:

Repo Man (punk/hc/garage)
Rockuglen (metal)
Insula (noise/krautrock)
Posh Isolation (noise/blackmetal - only open on fridays)
Route 66 (psych/garage)

Malmoe isn't as hot as Copenhagen but I like the city. Besides from the hc-scene with band like Infernoh, Harda Tider and Svart Stadhjalp you got local heroes Baddat For Trubbel and cool psychband Flowers Must Die. Good Record stores are Rundgang Records, Rytm Records and Repeat Record. For shows check out Get Daun, he will probably set up something you would be into.
