Cool news. Currently in Portland this week so I might stop by and check them out. Prices look good.

Indeed, record pressing can be dangerous, even lethal. Tom Dillander, the owner of Palomino Records Pressing in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, died on February 7, 2013, after suffering injuries when his plant's boiler exploded. The Cascade guys bought and installed a boiler that's the size of a room, with its own cooling tower, and also made significant power upgrades to their Milwaukie warehouse.

anyone ever use palomino?  we have the rev norb and the onions/last sons of krypton 12" split being pressed there right now, took 5 months to get a test pressing and we're still waiting for the albums.  all the people who work there are dillanders i think, there's three of them i have corresponded with already.  they seem like good people who are just overwhelmed, but their prices are cheap as hell 'cause theyre a tiny operation with just one manual press.

i wanted to support them because i like to support small family owned business.  the test pressing sounds good so i am optimistic regardless of the ridiculously long turnaround.  colored vinyl was only about $1200 for 250 albums.

I have been waiting forever for a 7'' being pressed at Palimino. They are really nice people and have great intentions, but yes, they do seem very overwhelmed. At one point I called them for 5 days straight trying to reach my rep. It started getting pretty stressful. I feel like I have to constantly call/leave emails to and ask them what the hell is going on whereas other pressing plants that are bigger will notify you when something happens.

yeah i think its gonna come down to the quality of the records if i use them in the future.  the vinyl the test pressing was cut on is really thick and seems good quality...  its not real loud compared to other vinyl but the dynamic range seems to all be there.  crisp highs and low lows, and no unexpected crackles or other noticeable flaws.  we'll see what the records look like when they get here.  i dont necessarily mind waiting 6 months to get records if they sound good...  and their prices are really cheap for low quantity runs.  500 7" for $800 or 250 albums for a grand is a steal!

I seldom speak of myself in the third person, but Ass Invader gets things done!  Anyone who chooses to employ him has made a wise decision and can expect meaningful, substantial, quantifiable results.  You aren't handed the name Ass Invader on a silver platter while lounging around waiting for the world to present its collective ass, it can only be EARNED!

That said, Ass Invader *will* be using his birth name on his application.

As a manager who has recruited and interviewed for the last 10 years this is an......interesting turn of events. Despite the unconventional forum and even making allowances, someone calling themselves Ass Invader has requested employment in a 'regular job' on a public forum......and has been asked to apply. Thank the Lord for punk rock.

I will from this day forward view applicants with anal nomenclature in a more tolerant light.

Got relatives in Milwaukie and go there quite a bit. I should talk my relative into putting out a record. My relative owns a dive bar that has live music on a popular street in NE PDX. The shop's probably not gonna be around next year since they never make any money. It's pretty sad. They'll have bands or artists play and everyone looks inside and then walks on by. I sort of stopped going by there because it's so depressing that no one stops in. They work 7 days a week - 80 hours on hard concrete floor.
