No doubt about it, stereotyping, censorship and good ol' fashioned bullying are neat for suppressing the opinions of the inferior, just ask the evil assholes of the world.

Although, there are some instances where it hasn't really worked, like when Kevin issued a veiled threat for someone saying Dio was the better singer and like when Kevin issued a veiled threat over the publishing of the Unwanted Christmas Presents interview. (There are also a couple of lesser known instances, such as Ghandi's response to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and Saladin's response to the Siege of Jerusalem.) (Christ, Kevin, you don't need a safe space; the rest of the world needs a safe space from you.)

Is reading the word "fag" or "faggot" or "poof" or "poofter" really worse than being threatened with violence? (Incidentally, reading the word "fag" likely isn't worse than being boofed up the rectum.)

Don't act like you never almost came to blows over a Dio debate. Been there, done that!

A point of order.

I have spent the last decade living in London, but grew up in Australia. In certain social contexts in Oz, as explained by Sprague and Androo, cunt is high praise indeed. However, the liberal use of cunt is likely to get your head bashed in, in my part of South East London. And if you're ever visiting Australia and assume that throwing cunt around willy nilly is a harmless pastime, you might be surprised that even in this purportedly relaxed backwater, context is everything, and someone might box your ears in.

There's also an often unacknowledged element of working class cringe/appropriation to the use of the word cunt in Australia, but this is both a bit more complex than this thread can bear, and probably too specific for most people's interests on here.

Can we do something to get the workers at every kebab place in Milano to stop calling me "dear" while we're at it?

WHEN THE FUCK DID I SAY THAT, SCROD.

GO ON, FIND ME A LINK.

I think that was termight. He disappeared from this thread early on. I can never tell which of you is which. Apologies.

Oh.

Fuck your Apology.

Go make up stories about someone else.

All right. Lowest Common Denominator time. So what about this idiot?

Now I know he's dead, but let's say they wanted to play a show, are you fuckin' _______s going to protest and try to get the gig cancelled?

This is some dumb hippie time travel scenario shit like the "would you kill baby Hitler" shit. If Sid were alive today and playing a show he'd be doing a Broadway play, or crooning Sinatra at a casino, or strumming a geetar at the Hideout.

Haha, yeah probably.

If he were lucky he'd be playing really "cool" gigs on cruise ships.

crooning Sinatra at a casino

Hell yeah, I could go for a whole album of "My Way"-style cuts. Just reappropriate the cover of My War as My Way, hold a seance, fire up the Voice Memo on your iphone, download Sid to Siri, filter thru some cheap garageband reverb, have the lacquers cut by Josh Bonati or John Golden, send off to Erika Records, pray they don't fuck up the entire run of LPs, wait 11 months and BOOM! Sid fucking Vicious is back.

When my hair is long, people call me "dude" or "man". When my head is buzzed it is "sir". And when I'm drunk people call me a cunt

These words are supposed to be offensive.  Mostly to squares.  But they're fighting words for a reason, and there it is.

I don't have any dog in this etc., and mostly, I don't care.  But I want the good people to feel fine.  I want the shitty people to feel like shit.  But mostly, I want to be left alone.

I think one of the only good things about living here is that people won't put up with this shit.  And I've learned a lot from that.  I used to think provocative language was funny.  And still do.  But if it's at the offense of others, I don't.  And won't.  And that's the long & short of it.  If a marginalized group has a problem, it's their prerogative, and you have to give them that.  You don't have any ground to stand on.  This is not a good world and if "they" are "they"d, then you have to understand that.  I'm a white male who's broke as fuck and just as disenfranchised as etc.  But it ain't fair.  And you have you try to make it fair, I suppose.  I don't know.  Take it as it comes.  You can't defend "faggot."  Or "Last Sons of Kypton."  Even if you feel you are those things.

This is a good post

This isn't about me. This is about beating up self-professed sad forty year old men, with arms if necessary.
